You.com

This connector wraps the You.com Web Search API (ydc-index.io).

Setup:

1. Create an API key at https://you.com/platform/api-keys (a key scoped to Web Search).
2. Set YDC_API_KEY.

Authentication: the key is sent as the X-API-Key header on every call, exactly as the API reference documents for POST https://ydc-index.io/v1/search.

One endpoint, two tools: the API exposes a single search endpoint, POST /v1/search, which returns web and news results together, organised under results.web and results.news.

• youcom_search — returns the full response. The body takes a query plus optional controls: count (max results per section, up to 100), freshness (recency filter: day, week, month, year, or a YYYY-MM-DDtoYYYY-MM-DD range), country (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2, e.g. US, DE), and language (BCP 47, e.g. EN, DE). The query supports search operators: site: to pin a domain, filetype:, +term / -term for required/excluded words, and AND / OR / NOT grouping.
• youcom_news — calls the same endpoint and selects only the results.news section. Takes the same query, plus freshness and count. Use it when the user explicitly wants news coverage rather than general web results; two tools with different scopes are easier for a model to pick between than one tool plus a prose instruction.

Result shape: each hit carries a URL, title and snippet. Snippets are previews — for exact values on a page, the result url must be fetched separately; this connector does not extract page content.

Out of scope here: You.com also offers a hosted MCP server (https://api.you.com/mcp) and full-page extraction parameters on the POST body. This adapter sticks to the plain REST surface so it works like every other catalog adapter; users who want the richer toolset can bridge the MCP server with the built-in MCP connector type.
