DocuSign

This connector works with one DocuSign eSignature account through the eSignature REST API v2.1 (<base URI>/restapi/v2.1/accounts/<account id>): envelopes (list, status, details, recipients, documents, audit trail, form data), sending documents or templates for signature, resending and voiding, and templates. It runs as the DocuSign user who authorized it (OAuth authorization code grant), within that user's permissions.

Setup (about 15 minutes; the free developer account works)

1. Get a free developer (demo) account at https://www.docusign.com/developers/sandbox, or use your production account.
2. Open Apps and Keys: https://admindemo.docusign.com/apps-and-keys for demo, https://admin.docusign.com/apps-and-keys for production (or Settings → Integrations → Apps and Keys).
3. Click Add App and Integration Key, name it (for example "AnythingMCP"). Under User Application → Authentication method answer "Is your application able to securely store a client secret?" with Yes (Authorization Code Grant).
4. Click Add Secret Key and copy it at once (it is shown only once). Copy the Integration Key too.
5. Under Redirect URIs add https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/api/mcp-oauth/callback on AnythingMCP Cloud, or <your AnythingMCP URL>/api/mcp-oauth/callback when you host AnythingMCP yourself. It must match exactly. Save; changes can take up to 5 minutes.
6. On the same Apps and Keys page, in My Account Information, copy the API Account ID (a GUID) into DOCUSIGN_ACCOUNT_ID and the Account's Base URI (for example https://demo.docusign.net or https://eu.docusign.net) into DOCUSIGN_BASE_URI.
7. Put the Integration Key into DOCUSIGN_CLIENT_ID, the secret into DOCUSIGN_CLIENT_SECRET, and set DOCUSIGN_AUTH_URL to https://account-d.docusign.com (demo) or https://account.docusign.com (production).
8. Install, then click Authorize with Provider on the connector page and sign in to DocuSign. Then run docusign_get_user_info: it lists every account this user can reach with its account_id and base_uri. If they differ from DOCUSIGN_ACCOUNT_ID / DOCUSIGN_BASE_URI, correct the variables (the base URI is per account and can change when DocuSign moves an account).

Going live: a new integration key works only in demo. To use it in production, on the demo Apps and Keys page choose Actions → Start Go-Live Review, then in your production account add a new secret key and the redirect URI again (they are not copied), and switch DOCUSIGN_AUTH_URL, DOCUSIGN_BASE_URI and DOCUSIGN_ACCOUNT_ID to the production values.

Scopes: signature extended. signature covers the eSignature API, extended lets AnythingMCP keep renewing the sign-in: access tokens last 8 hours, each refresh issues a new refresh token valid for 30 days, so the connector stays signed in as long as it is used at least once a month.

Sending is real: confirm first. An envelope with status "sent" emails every recipient a signing request in your company's name. docusign_create_envelope_from_template and docusign_create_envelope_with_document create a draft unless status is "sent"; docusign_send_draft_envelope, docusign_resend_envelope and docusign_void_envelope act on real recipients. Before any of them, say who will receive what and wait for the user's yes. docusign_move_envelope_to_trash is installed switched off.

Envelopes: docusign_list_envelopes needs a from_date (or envelope_ids); filter by status (created, sent, delivered, completed, declined, voided) or search_text. docusign_get_envelope with include: "recipients,documents" gives the full picture in one call. DocuSign asks integrations not to poll one envelope more than once every 15 minutes.

Documents: docusign_create_envelope_with_document takes files as base64 (PDF, Word, ...); keep them small, a whole request is limited to about 35 MB and every byte passes through the conversation. Signature fields go on the signer as tabs.signHereTabs: either at an anchor text in the document ({"anchorString": "/sig1/", "anchorUnits": "pixels", "anchorXOffset": "0", "anchorYOffset": "0"}) or at a position ({"documentId": "1", "pageNumber": "1", "xPosition": "100", "yPosition": "600"}, 72 dots per inch). docusign_download_document returns one document (or combined for all as one PDF, certificate for the completion certificate) as base64 text; answers above about 1.5 MB come back truncated, and DocuSign allows only a few downloads of the same document per hour.

Templates: docusign_list_templates and docusign_get_template show each template's roles (recipients.signers[].roleName). To send from a template, give every role an email and name in template_roles.

Limits: 3,000 API calls per hour per account (shared by all integrations), and bursts of up to 500 calls in 30 seconds (200 in demo).

Common errors (errorCode and message)

• 401 AUTHORIZATION_INVALID_TOKEN / USER_AUTHENTICATION_FAILED: the sign-in expired or was revoked; click Authorize with Provider again.
• 400 USER_LACKS_MEMBERSHIP or 404: DOCUSIGN_ACCOUNT_ID or DOCUSIGN_BASE_URI does not belong to the signed-in user; compare with docusign_get_user_info.
• 400 ENVELOPE_IS_INCOMPLETE, INVALID_EMAIL_ADDRESS_FOR_RECIPIENT, TEMPLATE_ROLE_NAME_MISMATCH (a role name that is not in the template), ENVELOPE_CANNOT_VOID_INVALID_STATE (only sent or delivered envelopes can be voided).
• 429 / HOURLY_APIINVOCATION_LIMIT_EXCEEDED: wait for the next hour.

Out of scope here: embedded signing and sending views, PowerForms, bulk send, Connect webhooks, editing templates, users and account settings.
