Baserow + ChatGPT
Read Baserow tables, fields, and rows from Baserow Cloud or a self-hosted instance. 4 generic read-only tools using database-token authentication.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
BASEROW_URL, BASEROW_API_TOKEN
Step 1 — Get credentials
The connector reads through Baserow's database API and never writes.
- In Baserow, open Settings → Database tokens and create a token with read access only to the databases and tables the AI should see.
- Set
BASEROW_API_TOKENto that token. Baserow expects it asAuthorization: Token <token>, not Bearer; the connector sends it that way. - Set
BASEROW_URLto the API host with no trailing slash:https://api.baserow.iofor Baserow Cloud, or your own host for a self-hosted instance (for examplehttps://baserow.example.com). - Start with
baserow_list_tables, thenbaserow_list_fieldsfor the table you need. Rows always come back with the real field names instead offield_1234.
A self-hosted Baserow on a private network needs AnythingMCP self-hosted on the same network, with the host added to SSRF_ALLOWED_HOSTS.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in ChatGPT
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
ChatGPT connects to MCP servers as custom apps in developer mode, available on paid plans (not on Free). On Business and Enterprise workspaces an admin may have to allow it first.
- In ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins and click +.
- Enter a name and a short description, e.g. Name:
Baserow. - Under Connection, enter the MCP server URL
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_IDand create the connection. - When ChatGPT asks, sign in to AnythingMCP (OAuth) and allow access.
Available tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
baserow_list_tables | List every table visible to the configured database token |
baserow_list_fields | List the fields in one Baserow table so later row queries can use the real human-readable field names and understand their types |
baserow_list_rows | List rows from one Baserow table using human-readable field names |
baserow_get_row | Get one row by numeric row ID from a Baserow table, returning human-readable field names |
FAQ
Does the free ChatGPT plan work with custom MCP connectors? No. Custom MCP connections need developer mode, which is only on paid plans.
