Customily + Gemini
Customily product personalization for Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce and standalone stores: list and read Design Studio product templates, and fetch what a shopper personalized (options, preview image, production files) by personalization id or order id. Logs in with the Customily account e-mail and password.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
CUSTOMILY_USERNAME, CUSTOMILY_PASSWORD
Step 1 — Get credentials
Customily has no API keys: the connector signs in with your Customily login.
- Put the e-mail (or username) and password you use at app.customily.com into
CUSTOMILY_USERNAMEandCUSTOMILY_PASSWORD. If you sign in only with Google or Shopify, set a password in Customily first. - The connector exchanges them for a token (
POST https://app.customily.com/api/token) that lasts 30 days and renews it automatically. A team member's login sees only what that member is allowed to see; an owner login sees everything. - Call
customily_count_productsto check the login, thencustomily_list_productsto page through the Design Studio templates.
Orders and production files: store the personalizationGUID of each cart item with the order (from the add-to-cart payload, or the Shopify or Etsy line item property). customily_get_personalization returns the shopper's options, the preview image and the production file URLs. If your store passed its order id when the cart record was created, customily_list_order_personalizations returns every personalized item of the order.
Costs: Customily charges per generated production file. customily_generate_production_file is installed switched off; turn it on only to generate files for paid orders.
Scope: the item API covers personalizations created through Customily's standalone and custom integrations (cart records). For Shopify and Etsy shops that use the Customily app directly, the data may live in the app's own order screens. Template and personalization ids are GUIDs; keep the dashes.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in Gemini
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
Gemini CLI reads MCP servers from ~/.gemini/settings.json (on Windows %USERPROFILE%\.gemini\settings.json). Add:
{
"mcpServers": {
"anythingmcp": {
"httpUrl": "https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID",
"headers": { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_MCP_API_KEY" }
}
}
}
- Create an MCP API key in AnythingMCP under MCP Servers → your server → API keys, and paste it in place of
YOUR_MCP_API_KEY. - Save the file and restart
gemini. - Run
/mcpinside Gemini CLI (orgemini mcp listin your shell) —anythingmcpshould show as connected. - Start prompting — Gemini CLI can now call the
Customilytools.

FAQ
Where does Gemini CLI look for MCP servers? In ~/.gemini/settings.json for your user, or in .gemini/settings.json inside a project. gemini mcp list shows each server and whether it connects.
