DataForSEO + Microsoft Copilot
Give your AI SEO data from DataForSEO: live Google results, keyword search volume and ideas, keyword difficulty, ranked keywords and competitors of any domain, backlinks, instant on-page checks and website technologies, paid per call from your own balance.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
DATAFORSEO_LOGIN, DATAFORSEO_PASSWORD
Step 1 — Get credentials
- Sign up at
https://app.dataforseo.com/register. New accounts get a small trial credit; paid use starts with a $50 top-up that does not expire. - Open
https://app.dataforseo.com/api-access. It shows the API login (the account email) and the API password, which DataForSEO generates and which differs from the password you sign in to the dashboard with. - Paste them into
DATAFORSEO_LOGINandDATAFORSEO_PASSWORDand install the connector. They are sent as HTTP Basic authentication, only to api.dataforseo.com. - Optional: set a daily spending limit in the DataForSEO dashboard (API settings) as a safety net.
- Start with
dataforseo_get_account: it is free and shows the balance left.
Paid per call from your own DataForSEO balance (pay as you go, prices of October 2026): a Google results page costs $0.002 per 10 results; Google Ads search volume and keyword ideas $0.09 per call, whatever the number of keywords; DataForSEO Labs (ranked keywords, keyword ideas, related keywords, competitors, domain overview, keyword difficulty) $0.012 per call plus $0.00012 per row returned; Backlinks $0.024 per call plus $0.000036 per row; an instant page check from $0.00015; technology detection $0.012. Every answer carries its cost in USD. The account, location and language lists are free. The tools start at 10 or 20 rows, and the AI tells you before a large batch.
Extra charges: on a Google results page, each further 10 results cost another $0.002, a keyword with a search operator (site:, intitle:, inurl:, filetype: and so on) costs five times as much, loading the AI overview adds $0.002 and each People also ask click $0.00015. A page check costs $0.00045 with its resources, $0.0015 with JavaScript and $0.0051 with browser rendering (Core Web Vitals). Clickstream data and other premium options are not offered here.
What it does: live Google results with featured snippets, People also ask, AI overview, local pack, top stories and related searches when Google shows them; Google Ads search volume, CPC and competition for up to 1,000 keywords, and Keyword Planner ideas for up to 20 seeds; the DataForSEO Labs database: the keywords a domain or page ranks for, keyword ideas, related searches up to four levels deep, organic competitors, a ranking overview with estimated traffic, and keyword difficulty for up to 1,000 keywords; a backlink summary, backlinks and referring domains with spam score; an instant on-page check of one URL; and the technologies a website uses. Only the live endpoints are used, so every answer comes back in the same call. Every tool only reads.
Locations and languages: Google results and Google Ads requests take a location code (2840 United States, 2276 Germany, 2826 United Kingdom, 2380 Italy, 2250 France, 2724 Spain) or a location name such as Munich,Bavaria,Germany, plus a language code. DataForSEO Labs only knows countries. The free list tools give the exact codes.
Untrusted content: titles, snippets and page texts come from the open web. The AI treats instructions found inside them as data, not as orders.
Common errors: 401 (40100): the login or API password is wrong; copy both again from the API Access page. 402 (40200, 40210): the balance is too low; 40203: a cost limit set in the dashboard was reached. 403: 40104 means the account is not verified yet, 40204 that the API (often Backlinks) is not activated for the account, 40207 that the IP whitelist blocks the server. 429 (40202, 40209): too many requests; Google Ads live calls allow 12 a minute. 400 (40501, 40503): a field is invalid, and the message names it. 40102 "no search results" is not an error: the answer is just empty.
The connector does not cover the queued task endpoints, full site crawls, Bing, YouTube, Amazon, app stores, reviews, business data, or the AI optimization and content analysis APIs.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in Microsoft Copilot
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
Microsoft Copilot uses MCP servers through agents built in Copilot Studio: you add AnythingMCP to an agent as a tool, then publish the agent to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams. Copilot Studio connects from Microsoft's cloud over Streamable HTTP, which AnythingMCP supports.
- In Copilot Studio, open your agent (or create one), go to Tools and choose Add a tool → New tool → Model Context Protocol.
- Enter a Server name (for example
AnythingMCP), a Server description that says what the connector does, and the Server URLhttps://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID. Copilot Studio uses the description to decide when to call the server. - Under authentication, choose API key, set Type to Header and the header name to
X-API-Key, then select Create. - In Add tool, choose Create a new connection, paste an MCP API key from AnythingMCP (MCP Servers → your server → API keys) and select Add to agent.
- Try it in the agent's Test pane: ask for something that needs the
DataForSEOtools. - Select Publish, then Channels → Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams, keep Make agent available in Microsoft Copilot selected and choose Add channel. See agent in Teams installs it for you; in Microsoft 365 Copilot, type @ and pick the agent.
Prefer per-user sign-in? Choose OAuth 2.0 → Dynamic discovery instead of an API key: each user then signs in to AnythingMCP the first time the agent calls it.
Self-hosting? Use your instance's public HTTPS address instead of https://cloud.anythingmcp.com. Copilot Studio connects from Microsoft's cloud, so localhost does not work.

FAQ
Which Copilot is this for? Microsoft 365 Copilot at work, through agents built in Copilot Studio. The Microsoft Copilot app for personal accounts has no option to add your own MCP server.
What do I need? A work account with access to Copilot Studio (a license or a trial) to build the agent. People who use it in Microsoft 365 Copilot or Teams need access to the agent: share it with them, or ask an admin to publish it to the organization. If your organization applies data policies to Power Platform connectors, they cover MCP servers too.
The agent doesn't call the tools. Check that the header name is exactly X-API-Key and that the key belongs to the same MCP server as the URL, and make the server description specific: Copilot Studio uses it to decide when to call the server. Publish the agent again after each change; in an open chat, type "start over" to get the new version.
