Deribit + Cursor
Public crypto derivatives data from Deribit: options and futures with open interest, implied volatility and mark prices, the DVOL index, historical volatility, tickers with greeks, order books, candles, trades, perpetual funding rates, index and delivery prices. No account or key; read-only, it cannot trade.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
(none required)
Step 1 — Set up the connector
Public data, no key: setup takes under a minute. The connector reads the public market data of Deribit, the crypto options and futures exchange, through its JSON-RPC API over HTTP (https://www.deribit.com/api/v2/public/...). The public methods need no account and no key.
- In the connector store, pick Deribit and install it. There is nothing to fill in.
- Check it with
deribit_get_index_price_names: it lists the Deribit price indexes such asbtc_usdandeth_usd.
Names: currency is BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT or EURR (deribit_get_currencies lists them), or any where a tool accepts it. An instrument_name is a perpetual BTC-PERPETUAL, a future BTC-27DEC26, an option BTC-27DEC26-100000-C (currency, expiry, strike, C for call or P for put) or a linear perpetual SOL_USDC-PERPETUAL; deribit_get_instruments lists the live ones with expiries, strikes, tick and contract sizes. An index_name is btc_usd, eth_usd, sol_usdc and so on.
What it reads: a summary of every instrument of a currency in one call (open interest, 24 hour volume, bid, ask, mark and last price, and for options the mark implied volatility), which covers options skew, open interest by strike and expiry, and max pain; the same summary for one instrument; the ticker of one instrument with best bid and ask, open interest, funding for perpetuals, and greeks and implied volatilities for options; the order book; OHLCV candles; recent trades of one instrument or a whole currency, with block trades and liquidations flagged; the DVOL implied volatility index as candles; realised volatility as hourly points over about the last 16 days; hourly perpetual funding and the funding accumulated over a period; current index prices; and daily delivery (settlement) prices of an index.
Units and times: every timestamp, in and out, is Unix milliseconds (UTC); the AI computes ranges from the current time (the last 7 days is now minus 604800000). Prices of the inverse BTC and ETH options are quoted in the base coin, not in USD: the AI multiplies by underlying_price or the index price for dollars. Future and perpetual prices are in USD. Open interest of inverse futures is in USD, of options in contracts of the base coin. mark_iv is in percent. funding_8h and interest_8h are fractions per 8 hours (0.0001 = 0.01%).
Paging: DVOL history returns a continuation value when older data exists, and the AI calls again with end_timestamp set to it. Trades report has_more; delivery prices report records_total and page with offset.
Read-only: every tool only reads public market data, so there is nothing to confirm and no tool is switched off at install. The private methods (trading, positions, wallet) are not part of the connector.
Limits: public calls are rate-limited per IP with a credit system, and a burst of calls can answer too_many_requests (code 10028). The AI avoids looping over hundreds of instruments: one deribit_get_book_summary_by_currency call covers all of them. Order book depth stays small (e.g. 20) unless the full book is needed; trades come up to 1000 per call.
Common errors: errors come back as a JSON-RPC error object, e.g. for an unknown instrument name or a missing required parameter. An option that has expired no longer appears among the live instruments; deribit_get_instruments with expired true lists recently expired ones.
The connector does not place or cancel orders, read accounts, positions or wallets, or move funds.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in Cursor
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
Cursor reads MCP servers from ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Add this entry:
{
"mcpServers": {
"anythingmcp": {
"url": "https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID",
"headers": { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_MCP_API_KEY" }
}
}
}
- Create an MCP API key in AnythingMCP under MCP Servers → your server → API keys, and paste it in place of
YOUR_MCP_API_KEY. - Save the file and restart Cursor.
- Open Cursor → Settings → MCP and check that
anythingmcpis listed and connected. - Start chatting: the agent can now call the
Deribittools.
