How to Connect DPD Germany Tracking to ChatGPT — via MCP

Self-hosted only. DPD Germany Tracking refuses requests from datacenter IP addresses, and AnythingMCP Cloud runs in a datacenter, so this connector is not available on AnythingMCP Cloud. It works on an AnythingMCP instance you run yourself on a computer or server with a regular home or office internet connection.

DPD Germany Tracking + ChatGPT

Track DPD (Dynamic Parcel Distribution) shipments in Germany using the public Parcel Life Cycle REST API. Retrieves full event history, current status, sender/recipient, scan-point locations, and predicted delivery time for any DPD parcel.

Prerequisites

See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:

Step 1 — Get credentials

Parcel number format: 14-digit numeric string (e.g. '01234567890123'). DPD also supports partial matches — the API will return the best match.

Supported languages: de_DE (German), en_DE (English), fr_FR, it_IT, es_ES, pl_PL, cs_CZ, nl_NL. Pass without country code (e.g. 'en') and the API maps to country defaults.

Events returned: each event has a timestamp, scan-point (depot/city), status code, and localized description — cover the full parcel journey from pickup through sorting to delivery.

Step 2 — Install the adapter

1. Open http://localhost:3000 and register. The first account becomes the admin.
2. Open the connector store (http://localhost:3000/connectors/store), pick DPD Germany Tracking, fill in the credentials it asks for (some connectors need none) and install it.
3. Under MCP Servers, create a server and assign the DPD Germany Tracking connector to it. On the server's page, copy the MCP endpoint (http://localhost:4000/mcp/<server-id>) and generate a key under API keys.

The quickstart listens on localhost only. For an instance that other people or cloud-based AI clients can reach, clone the repository and run ./setup.sh, which sets up a domain, HTTPS and OAuth (deployment guide).

Step 3 — Add the connector in ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to MCP servers from OpenAI's cloud, so it cannot reach the localhost endpoint of the quickstart. You need an AnythingMCP instance with a public HTTPS address (see ./setup.sh above) on a connection DPD Germany Tracking accepts, and you enter that instance's MCP endpoint in the steps below instead of a Cloud URL.

ChatGPT connects to MCP servers as custom apps in developer mode, available on paid plans (not on Free). On Business and Enterprise workspaces an admin may have to allow it first.

1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
2. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins and click +.
3. Enter a name and a short description, e.g. Name: DPD Germany Tracking.
4. Under Connection, enter the MCP server URL https://<your-anythingmcp-domain>/mcp/<server-id> and create the connection.
5. When ChatGPT asks, sign in to AnythingMCP (OAuth) and allow access.

If a public instance is not an option, use a client that runs on your computer instead: Claude Code, Cursor or Gemini CLI reach localhost directly.
