Skip the install. Get this working in under 2 minutes.
Start a free trial on cloud.anythingmcp.com, add the Google Tasks in one click, then point your AI client (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot or Cursor) at the generated MCP endpoint. No Docker, no git clone, zero engineering experience required.
Summary
Let your AI manage Google Tasks: see your task lists and what is open or due, add tasks and subtasks with due dates, update, complete and reorder them or move them to another list. The same tasks you see in Gmail, Google Calendar and the Tasks app. Personal Google accounts and Google Workspace.

Click any prompt to copy it. Paste into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, Copilot or OpenClaw to run it against this connector.
Claude is AI and can make mistakes. Please double-check responses.
💡 No install? Use cloud.anythingmcp.com directly. Sign in, click Connectors → Google Tasks, paste your credentials, mint an MCP API key and you're done. No Docker, no
git clone, no local server.
Google Tasks + Cursor
Let your AI manage Google Tasks: see your task lists and what is open or due, add tasks and subtasks with due dates, update, complete and reorder them or move them to another list. The same tasks you see in Gmail, Google Calendar and the Tasks app. Personal Google accounts and Google Workspace.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID, GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET
Step 1 — Get credentials
- Open console.cloud.google.com, pick or create a project, then go to APIs & Services → Library and enable the Google Tasks API.
- Open APIs & Services → OAuth consent screen. Choose Internal if you are on Google Workspace (the simplest option), otherwise External. For External, set the publishing status to In production: while the app is in Testing, Google revokes its refresh tokens after 7 days and the connector stops working every week. For your own account you can click through the "unverified app" warning.
- Open APIs & Services → Credentials → Create credentials → OAuth client ID, choose the application type Web application and add the authorized redirect URI
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/api/mcp-oauth/callback. If you host AnythingMCP yourself, enterhttps://your-anythingmcp-host/api/mcp-oauth/callbackinstead. - Paste the client ID into
GOOGLE_CLIENT_IDand the client secret intoGOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET, then install the connector. - On the connector page, click Authorize with Provider and sign in with the Google account whose tasks the AI should use. The refresh token is stored encrypted and access tokens are renewed automatically.
One Google client for all Google connectors: the same Cloud project and OAuth client can serve every Google connector: Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Tasks, Search Console, Analytics and Ads. Enable each API in that project, reuse the same client ID and secret, and authorize each connector once. Each one asks only for its own permissions.
Good to know: these are the same tasks you see in Gmail, Google Calendar and the Google Tasks app. Google Tasks stores only the day of a due date, so a time of day cannot be set. Tasks completed in the Google apps are hidden by default, so ask for completed tasks explicitly when you need them.
Permissions: the connector asks for https://www.googleapis.com/auth/tasks: read and change your tasks and task lists.
Read-only setup: change the scope in the connector's OAuth settings to https://www.googleapis.com/auth/tasks.readonly, authorize again and disable gtasks_create_tasklist, gtasks_create_task, gtasks_update_task, gtasks_complete_task and gtasks_move_task.
Switched off at install: gtasks_delete_task. Completing a task is usually what you mean; turn deleting on only if the AI should remove tasks.
Common errors: 401 means the authorization expired or was revoked (always after 7 days while the consent screen is in Testing): click Authorize with Provider again. 403 accessNotConfigured means the Google Tasks API is not enabled in the Cloud project. 403 insufficientPermissions means the scope does not allow the call (a change on a read-only setup). 404 means the list or task id is wrong, or the task belongs to another list.
The connector does not rename or delete task lists, clear completed tasks or set up recurring tasks.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in Cursor
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
Cursor reads MCP servers from ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Add this entry:
{
"mcpServers": {
"anythingmcp": {
"url": "https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID",
"headers": { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_MCP_API_KEY" }
}
}
}
- Create an MCP API key in AnythingMCP under MCP Servers → your server → API keys, and paste it in place of
YOUR_MCP_API_KEY. - Save the file and restart Cursor.
- Open Cursor → Settings → MCP and check that
anythingmcpis listed and connected. - Start chatting: the agent can now call the
Google Taskstools.
Available tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
gtasks_list_tasklists | List the user's task lists with id, title and updated time |
gtasks_create_tasklist | Create a new task list with a title |
gtasks_list_tasks | List the tasks of one list with id, title, notes, status (needsAction or completed), due date, completed time, parent (for subtasks) and… |
gtasks_get_task | Get one task with title, notes, status, due date, completed time, parent, position, links and webViewLink |
gtasks_create_task | Create a task in a list, at the top by default; with parent it becomes a subtask, with previous it goes after that sibling |
gtasks_update_task | Change a task: only the fields given are changed. status "completed" marks it done, "needsAction" reopens it |
gtasks_complete_task | Mark a task as completed (Google sets the completed time) |
gtasks_move_task | Move a task: make it a subtask (parent), reorder it after a sibling (previous), move it to the top level (neither), or to another list… |
gtasks_delete_task | Delete a task (its subtasks go with it) |
Example prompts
- "What tasks are due this week?"
- "Add a task Send the Q3 report to My Tasks, due Friday, with subtasks for collecting the figures and writing the summary."
- "Mark the task Book flights as done."
- "Move all open tasks from the Inbox list to Project Alpha."
