IPinfo + Meta Muse
IP address intelligence from IPinfo: geolocation, ASN and network owner, VPN, proxy, Tor and residential proxy detection, company, mobile carrier, abuse contacts, hosted domains, IP ranges and WHOIS, one IP at a time or up to 1,000 per batch. Read-only; a few lookups work without a token, a free token unlocks unlimited IPinfo Lite.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
(none required; optional: IPINFO_TOKEN)
Step 1 — Set up the connector
Works without a token, better with one: setup takes under 2 minutes. The connector reads two IPinfo hosts, the current API at https://api.ipinfo.io (Lite, lookup, places, batch) and the classic API at https://ipinfo.io (everything else).
- In the connector store, pick IPinfo and install it. Without a token only
ipinfo_get_my_ip,ipinfo_get_ip_detailsandipinfo_get_ip_fieldwork, at a small daily allowance; every other tool answers 400 or 403. - Recommended: sign up at https://ipinfo.io/signup. The free plan gives unlimited IPinfo Lite lookups (country, continent and ASN). Copy the access token from https://ipinfo.io/dashboard/token into
IPINFO_TOKEN, without aBearerprefix. It is sent asAuthorization: Bearer <token>. - Check it with
ipinfo_get_my_ip, and with a tokenipinfo_get_token_info: it shows the plan, the requests made and left this day and month, and underfeaturesthe data products the token may use.
Which tool for which plan:
- No token:
ipinfo_get_my_ip,ipinfo_get_ip_details,ipinfo_get_ip_field. - Free token: also
ipinfo_lite_lookup,ipinfo_lite_meandipinfo_batch_lite. - Core, Plus or Max plan:
ipinfo_lookup(city-level geo, ASN type, privacy and mobile flags) andipinfo_batch; Plus and Max alsoipinfo_get_place. - Business, enterprise or the matching single API:
ipinfo_get_privacy,ipinfo_get_residential_proxy(residential proxy add-on),ipinfo_get_company,ipinfo_get_carrier,ipinfo_get_abuse_contact,ipinfo_get_hosted_domains,ipinfo_get_asn,ipinfo_get_ip_ranges,ipinfo_whois_net,ipinfo_whois_organdipinfo_whois_poc. A token without the product answers 403.
What it reads:
- Where an IP is and who runs it:
ipinfo_lite_lookupon a free token,ipinfo_lookupon a paid one,ipinfo_get_ip_detailsfor the classic shape with hostname, city, region, country, coordinates, postal code, time zone and AS organization.ipinfo_get_ip_fieldreturns a single value as plain text, such as only the country or the city. - Many IPs at once:
ipinfo_batch_lite(free) oripinfo_batch(paid, can mix IPs, fields such as8.8.8.8/country, ASNs such asAS15169and paths such asresproxy/1.1.1.1), up to 1,000 inputs per call; the AI splits longer lists. - Fraud and security checks: VPN, proxy, Tor, relay and hosting flags with
ipinfo_get_privacy, residential proxy exits withipinfo_get_residential_proxy, whom to report abuse to withipinfo_get_abuse_contact, and the domains hosted on an IP (reverse IP) withipinfo_get_hosted_domains. - Networks and organizations: autonomous systems with prefixes, peers, upstreams and downstreams (
ipinfo_get_asn), the IP ranges of a company by its domain (ipinfo_get_ip_ranges), the company behind an IP (ipinfo_get_company), the mobile carrier with MCC and MNC (ipinfo_get_carrier), the public place an IP belongs to such as a hotel or airport (ipinfo_get_place) and WHOIS records by network, organization or point of contact. ipinfo_get_my_ipandipinfo_lite_mereport the public IP of the AnythingMCP server, not yours.
Read-only: every tool only reads, so no tool is switched off at install. The batch tools are sent as POST but only read.
Data formats: the classic API returns loc as "latitude, longitude" and org as "AS15169 Google LLC"; the current API splits them into geo.latitude, geo.longitude and as.asn, as.name. Countries are ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes (US, DE), time zones IANA names (Europe/Berlin). Private and reserved addresses come back with bogon: true and no location. Location is an estimate of where the network is, not of a person; on Plus, radius gives the accuracy in km. Batch answers are an object keyed by input.
Paging: ipinfo_get_hosted_domains takes page (from 0) and limit (100 by default, up to 1,000). WHOIS tools return 50 records per page and take page (from 0).
Limits and common errors: Lite is unlimited; paid plans have a monthly quota and answer 429 when it is used up. 400 with "Token not passed" or "API Access Token Required" means the tool needs a token, 403 "Unknown token" a wrong token, 403 on a valid token a product your plan does not include, 404 "Wrong ip" a malformed IP address.
The connector does not locate people, does not change anything in your IPinfo account and does not download the IPinfo databases.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in Muse
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
Muse adds remote MCP servers as custom connectors and signs in to them with OAuth.
- In Muse, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Paste the MCP server URL
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID. - Muse opens the AnythingMCP sign-in page: sign in and approve access.
- In a chat, ask Muse for something that needs the
IPinfotools.
You can also set it up from a chat, on the web, in the iOS and Android apps or in WhatsApp. Send Muse this message:
Create a Custom Connector for a new remote MCP server, then connect to it:
Name: AnythingMCP
Transport: remote streamable HTTP
URL: https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID
Auth: OAuth
Self-hosting? Use your instance's public HTTPS address instead of https://cloud.anythingmcp.com. Muse connects from Meta's cloud, so localhost does not work.

FAQ
Where is Muse available? Meta currently offers Muse in the US and Canada, on the web, in the iOS and Android apps and in WhatsApp.
Does Meta review this connector? No. Meta doesn't review custom connectors. Muse sees only the tools you switched on for this MCP server in AnythingMCP, and you can disconnect it anytime under Settings → Connectors.
