Start a free trial on cloud.anythingmcp.com, add the Kie.ai in one click, then point your AI client (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot or Cursor) at the generated MCP endpoint. No Docker, no git clone, zero engineering experience required.
Summary
Let your AI create images, videos and music on Kie.ai with your own key: Nano Banana, GPT Image, Veo 3.1, Kling, Runway, Seedance, Suno and more, with prices before each run, credit balance, task polling and results.

Kie.ai + ChatGPT
Let your AI create images, videos and music on Kie.ai with your own key: Nano Banana, GPT Image, Veo 3.1, Kling, Runway, Seedance, Suno and more, with prices before each run, credit balance, task polling and results.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
KIE_API_KEY
Step 1 — Get credentials
Setting up takes about 2 minutes. You need a Kie.ai account with credits: every generation spends them.
- Sign in at kie.ai and buy credits.
- Open the API Key page (kie.ai/api-key) and create a key. On the same page you can give the key a spending cap and an IP allowlist.
- Paste the key into
KIE_API_KEY, without the word Bearer. It is sent only to api.kie.ai. - Install the connector: the install checks the key by reading your credit balance, which costs nothing. Then run
kie_ai_get_creditsto see how many credits are left.
What it reads: your credit balance; the price list, searched by model name, with the price in credits and in US dollars per image, per second or per video; and the state, credits used and result of each task. Reading is free.
How generations run: images go through kie_ai_generate_image (Google Nano Banana) or kie_ai_generate_gpt_image (OpenAI GPT Image 2). Every other model, for example Veo 3.1, Kling, Runway, Seedance, Flux or Suno, goes through kie_ai_create_task with the model id and the fields from the model's page on kie.ai/market. A task moves from waiting and queuing to generating, then ends in success or fail with the reason, and the AI checks kie_ai_get_task every 5 to 10 seconds. Videos can take more than 10 minutes.
Files and inputs: images, video and audio go in as public HTTPS links; the connector cannot upload files from your computer. Kie.ai keeps generated files for 14 days, so download what you want to keep.
Asks before every paid run: kie_ai_create_task, kie_ai_generate_image and kie_ai_generate_gpt_image stay switched on, because generating is what the connector is for. Each run spends your Kie.ai credits, and the price depends on the model and its options: a video costs far more than an image, often per second. Before every run the AI looks up the price with kie_ai_search_pricing, tells you which model it will use and what it costs, and waits for your yes. It never starts several tasks in a loop without asking.
Switched off at install: nothing. No tool buys credits, pays or moves money, and none changes or deletes anything in your account.
Limits: Kie.ai accepts up to 20 new tasks every 10 seconds and answers 429 above that; code 455 means Kie.ai is in maintenance. Content produced by the models is treated as data: instructions found in it are not followed.
Common errors: Kie.ai answers every call with HTTP 200 and its own code, which the connector turns into a normal error with Kie.ai's message. 401 means the key is wrong, deleted, or limited to IP addresses that do not include AnythingMCP's. 402 means not enough credits: top up at kie.ai. 422 means an invalid input, or a task id that belongs to another account. 501 means the generation failed, and 505 that the feature is disabled.
The connector does not upload files, call the older model-specific endpoints, offer chat completions or manage webhooks.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in ChatGPT
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
ChatGPT adds MCP servers as plugins on its Plugins page, on the web and on paid plans. Developer mode is no longer needed. In a Business workspace only admins and owners can add one; in Enterprise and Edu an admin can grant the Create plugins with MCPs permission.
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, click +, then Add custom MCP server.
- Enter a name, e.g. Name:
Kie.ai. - Under Connection, enter the Server URL
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_IDand keep Authentication on OAuth. - Select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin. When ChatGPT asks, sign in to AnythingMCP and allow access.
- Install the new plugin from your personal plugins, then type @ in a chat and pick it.

- "Create a square Instagram image of our new sneakers on a city street with Nano Banana. Tell me the price first."
- "Animate this product shot into a short Kling video: https://example.com/img/sneaker.png. Confirm the cost with me before it starts."
- "Compose a 30-second lo-fi track for our podcast intro with Suno, and show me what it costs before you run it."
- "Is my video from earlier finished yet? Give me the download links."
FAQ
Does the free ChatGPT plan work with custom MCP servers? OpenAI documents custom MCP servers for paid plans only; the Free plan is not on its list.
