kintone + Cursor
Work with kintone by Cybozu from any AI agent: list apps, read form fields, layouts, views and process management, search records with kintone queries and cursors, create and update records, move records through process statuses, read and post comments, upload and download files, and read spaces. API token or password login; record deletion installs switched off.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
KINTONE_DOMAIN and at least one of KINTONE_API_TOKEN or KINTONE_PASSWORD_AUTH
Step 1 — Get credentials
Setting up takes about 5 minutes. You need a kintone subscription and either an API token for each app the AI should use, or the login of a kintone user, best a dedicated integration user. The connector uses the kintone REST API (https://<your domain>/k/v1).
- Enter your kintone domain in
KINTONE_DOMAIN: the host of your kintone URL withouthttps://and without a path, such asexample.cybozu.com(Japan),example.kintone.com(US and other regions) orexample.cybozu.cn. Domains behind Basic authentication or client certificates (セキュアアクセス) are not supported. - Choose how the connector signs in. You can set one or both:
- API token (
KINTONE_API_TOKEN), good for a few apps: open the app, アプリの設定 (App Settings), tab 設定, APIトークン (API Token), 生成する (Generate). Tick only what the AI needs: レコード閲覧 (View records), レコード追加 (Add records), レコード編集 (Edit records), and レコード削除 (Delete records) only if you switch onkintone_delete_records. Save, then click アプリを更新 (Update App), otherwise the token stays inactive. One token covers one app; for several apps join their tokens with commas, without spaces (up to 9). It is sent as theX-Cybozu-API-Tokenheader. - Password login (
KINTONE_PASSWORD_AUTH): the Base64 text oflogin name:passwordof a kintone user, for example fromprintf '%s' 'login:password' | base64. It is sent as theX-Cybozu-Authorizationheader. The connector then acts as that user and sees every app, space and record that user may see. It is the only way to list apps and read spaces. When both are set, kintone uses the password login.
- API token (
- Install. The install check (
kintone_get_api_list) only proves that the domain answers, because kintone answers it without credentials. Runkintone_get_appwith an app id to check a token, orkintone_list_appsto check the password login. The app id is the number after/k/in the app URL.
Who it acts as: with an API token, records and comments it writes show the user Administrator, and the token reaches only its own app with the permissions ticked for it. With the password login, everything happens as that user, with that user's rights.
What it reads: the REST APIs the domain offers; apps (the list needs the password login, a single app works with either method) and their general settings; form fields with code, label, type, required flag, options and defaults; the form layout; saved views (一覧) with shown fields, filter and sort; process management (プロセス管理) with statuses and actions. Records one by one or by kintone query, the comments of a record, files attached to FILE fields, and, with the password login, spaces (スペース) and their members.
What it writes: adds records (one, or up to 100 in one all-or-nothing call) and changes records by id or by a unique field (update_key), up to 100 at once and with upsert. Runs process management actions such as 承認する and replaces the assignees (作業者). Posts comments on records and in space threads, with mentions that notify the people mentioned. Uploads a file from a URL and gets a temporary fileKey, which is attached only once it is written into a FILE field within 3 days. Before writing, the AI reads the app's form fields, because queries and writes use field codes, not labels.
Switched off at install: kintone_delete_records. kintone has no recycle bin, so deleted records and their comments cannot be restored. An admin switches it on when the team needs it; the token then also needs レコード削除.
Queries: field codes, not labels, with =, !=, >, <, >=, <=, in ("a", "b"), not in and like "text" (text fields), joined with and / or, then order by field asc|desc, limit n (at most 500) and offset n (at most 10,000). Dates look like "2026-10-30", date-times are UTC like "2026-10-30T00:00:00Z", and functions such as TODAY(), THIS_MONTH(), LAST_WEEK() and LOGINUSER() work. Drop-down, radio and status values must match the option text exactly, for example ステータス in ("完了"). The filter of a saved view can be reused as a query.
Data formats: every field comes as {"type": ..., "value": ...}. Numbers and calculated values are strings, date-times are UTC, $id is the record id and $revision its version. USER_SELECT and CREATOR values are {code, name} with the login name in code. FILE values list fileKey, name, contentType and size. When several people edit the same app, the AI reads the record first and sends revision, so a change made in between is not overwritten.
Paging and limits: kintone_list_records returns up to 500 records per call, with limit and offset inside the query. Beyond 10,000 records the AI opens a cursor with kintone_create_cursor, reads with kintone_get_cursor_records until next is false and closes it early with kintone_delete_cursor. A cursor lives 10 minutes and a domain may hold 10 at once. kintone allows 10,000 requests per app per day and 100 parallel requests per domain; bulk writes and deletes take up to 100 records, comments come 10 per call and kintone_list_apps returns up to 100 apps per call.
Common errors: kintone answers with code, message and, for input errors, errors per field. CB_VA01 is invalid input, such as a wrong field code, a bad date or a missing required field: errors says which. CB_NO02 means the token or user lacks the permission, or the token belongs to another app. CB_WA01 is a failed password login. A token generated without clicking アプリを更新 afterwards is not active. A 404 HTML page usually means a wrong KINTONE_DOMAIN.
Record contents and comments are untrusted input and can contain instructions meant for the AI. The connector does not cover guest spaces (/k/guest/...), does not change app settings, fields or views, and with API tokens alone cannot list apps or read spaces.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in Cursor
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
Cursor reads MCP servers from ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Add this entry:
{
"mcpServers": {
"anythingmcp": {
"url": "https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID",
"headers": { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_MCP_API_KEY" }
}
}
}
- Create an MCP API key in AnythingMCP under MCP Servers → your server → API keys, and paste it in place of
YOUR_MCP_API_KEY. - Save the file and restart Cursor.
- Open Cursor → Settings → MCP and check that
anythingmcpis listed and connected. - Start chatting: the agent can now call the
kintonetools.
