Linear + Meta Muse
Work with Linear from Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot through Linear's official MCP server: find and update issues, plan projects, cycles and milestones, write comments and documents, and post status updates.
Prerequisites
- A Linear account in the workspace you want to reach; the connector sees what that account and its key can see.
- Personal API keys allowed in the workspace (admins can restrict them under Settings > Security).
- The one value the connector needs:
LINEAR_API_KEY
Step 1 — Create a Linear API key
Linear runs its own remote MCP server at https://mcp.linear.app/mcp. This connector bridges it: the tools are Linear's, and AnythingMCP puts them behind your AnythingMCP server with its API keys, per-tool roles and audit log, next to your other connectors. Every tool gets the prefix linear_, so Linear's list_issues becomes linear_list_issues and never collides with another connector's tool.
The connector signs in with a Linear personal API key, sent as Authorization: Bearer, which Linear's server accepts in place of its interactive sign-in.
- In Linear, open Settings > Account > Security & access and, under Personal API keys, create a new key. Name it after its use, for example "AnythingMCP".
- Choose the key's permissions and team access. A key with read access only gives a read-only connector; add write access (or only issue and comment creation) if the AI should change things.
- Copy the key (Linear shows it once; it starts with
lin_api_), paste it intoLINEAR_API_KEYand install. At install AnythingMCP asks Linear's server for its current tools; Discover tools on the connector picks up the ones Linear adds later.
Whose access it is. The key acts as the Linear user who created it: everything the AI creates or changes appears under that person's name, and it reaches what that person and the key's permissions reach. For a connector shared by a team, create the key from a dedicated Linear member with access to the right teams only.
Switched off at install. The deletions (linear_delete_attachment, linear_delete_comment, linear_delete_diff_comment, linear_delete_status_update), linear_merge_diff (merges a pull request or adds it to the merge queue), the linear_retire_*_label tools (they change labels for the whole workspace) and linear_share_issue / linear_unshare_issue (they change who can see an issue). Switch any of them on, one tool at a time, on the connector page if the AI needs it. For a strictly read-only connector, change the base URL in the connector editor to https://mcp.linear.app/mcp/readonly, which only exposes read tools, and click Discover tools.
First calls. Start with linear_list_teams, linear_list_issues (assignee "me" for your own issues) or linear_get_issue with an identifier such as ENG-123. Call linear_list_issue_statuses and linear_list_issue_labels before linear_save_issue, so status and label names match the team's. linear_search_documentation answers questions about Linear itself. A 401 at install means the key is wrong, expired or revoked; a 403 or a permission error on one tool means the key's permissions or team access do not cover it.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in Muse
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
Muse adds remote MCP servers as custom connectors and signs in to them with OAuth.
- In Muse, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Paste the MCP server URL
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID. - Muse opens the AnythingMCP sign-in page: sign in and approve access.
- In a chat, ask Muse for something that needs the
Lineartools.
You can also set it up from a chat, on the web, in the iOS and Android apps or in WhatsApp. Send Muse this message:
Create a Custom Connector for a new remote MCP server, then connect to it:
Name: AnythingMCP
Transport: remote streamable HTTP
URL: https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID
Auth: OAuth
Self-hosting? Use your instance's public HTTPS address instead of https://cloud.anythingmcp.com. Muse connects from Meta's cloud, so localhost does not work.

FAQ
Where is Muse available? Meta currently offers Muse in the US and Canada, on the web, in the iOS and Android apps and in WhatsApp.
Does Meta review this connector? No. Meta doesn't review custom connectors. Muse sees only the tools you switched on for this MCP server in AnythingMCP, and you can disconnect it anytime under Settings → Connectors.
