Odds API + ChatGPT
Let your AI read sports odds from odds-api.io: find sports, leagues and upcoming or live events, list the bookmakers your plan covers, and compare the odds of one event across several bookmakers, market by market. For research and price comparison, with an API key from odds-api.io.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
ODDS_API_KEY
Step 1 — Get credentials
- Create an account at odds-api.io. A free API key is available; copy the key from your account.
- Paste it into
ODDS_API_KEYand install the connector. There is no Authorize with Provider step: the connector adds the key to every request as theapiKeyquery parameter, so the AI never sees it or passes it on. - Start with
odds_list_sports: it returns the sports and their slugs (football,basketball,tennis,ice-hockeyand so on) that the other tools expect. - Then call
odds_list_bookmakersto see the exact bookmaker names, and pick the ones your plan includes.
How a lookup works: odds_get_event_odds needs a concrete event and named bookmakers, so the AI works in steps. odds_list_leagues returns the league slugs of a sport (for example england-premier-league) with the number of events in each, odds_list_events lists the matches of a sport, optionally of one league, each with a numeric id, home and away team, start time, league and status, and odds_get_event_odds then reads the odds for that eventId from the bookmakers you name, grouped by market. You ask in plain words; the AI does the lookups in between.
Sport and league slugs: all football competitions use the sport slug football and are narrowed with a league slug. There is no separate slug for a single tournament such as soccer_world_cup.
Bookmakers and your plan: bookmakers are always named one by one, comma-separated and spelled exactly as odds_list_bookmakers returns them (for example Bet365). The value all is not accepted. Free plans cover only a small number of selected bookmakers; asking for more returns a 403 that lists the bookmakers your key may use. markets is optional: leave it out to get every market the bookmakers offer for that event.
Times and status: start times are in UTC (ISO 8601, for example 2026-06-18T09:00:00Z); the AI converts them to your time zone. An event's status is notstarted, inprogress or settled, so the same tools cover upcoming and live matches.
Snapshots, not history: each call returns the odds at that moment. There is no tool for past odds, so to follow how a line moves, ask again later and compare. Odds change quickly and can differ from what the bookmaker shows at the time; check the bookmaker's own site before relying on a price.
Read-only: all five tools only read data from odds-api.io; nothing needs to be switched off for a read-only setup.
Common errors: errors come back as JSON with an error field. Missing eventId or Missing bookmakers means a step was skipped: ask the AI to look up the event and the bookmaker names first. A message ending in is not a valid bookmaker means the name is misspelled or all was used; take the name from odds_list_bookmakers. Access denied. You're allowed max N bookmakers means the request named more bookmakers than your plan allows: query fewer, from the allowed list, or change your plan at odds-api.io. If every call fails, check that ODDS_API_KEY holds the full key without spaces.
The connector does not place bets, read bookmaker accounts, balances or bet history, return historical odds, or send alerts when odds change.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in ChatGPT
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
ChatGPT adds MCP servers as plugins on its Plugins page, on the web and on paid plans. Developer mode is no longer needed. In a Business workspace only admins and owners can add one; in Enterprise and Edu an admin can grant the Create plugins with MCPs permission.
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, click Add, then Add custom MCP server.
- Enter a name, e.g. Name:
Odds API. - Under Connection, enter the Server URL
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_IDand keep Authentication on OAuth. - Select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin. When ChatGPT asks, sign in to AnythingMCP and allow access.
- Install the new plugin from your personal plugins, then type @ in a chat and pick it.
