How to Connect OLX to Gemini via MCP

OLX + Gemini

Manage your OLX classifieds account (Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Portugal, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan) from Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot: your adverts with status, statistics and moderation reasons, buyer message threads with replies, wallet balance, billing and invoices, and categories, attributes and locations. OAuth sign-in, one install per country.

Prerequisites

See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:

OLX_HOST, OLX_CLIENT_ID, OLX_CLIENT_SECRET

Step 1 — Get credentials

Setting up takes about 10 minutes, plus the time OLX needs to review your application. You need an OLX account on the country site you sell on and an application accepted on that country's OLX developer portal.

1. Sign in with your OLX account at the developer portal of your country: developer.olx.pl (Poland), developer.olx.ro (Romania), developer.olx.bg (Bulgaria), developer.olx.pt (Portugal), developer.olx.ua (Ukraine), developer.olx.kz (Kazakhstan) or developer.olx.uz (Uzbekistan).
2. Add an application with Connect App. As redirect URI (on the Polish portal: Adres powrotu) enter https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/api/mcp-oauth/callback on AnythingMCP Cloud, or <your AnythingMCP URL>/api/mcp-oauth/callback when you host AnythingMCP yourself.
3. Wait for OLX to accept the application. Until then it shows Waiting for acceptance; OLX emails you, and only after acceptance do the Client ID and Client Secret appear.
4. Paste them into OLX_CLIENT_ID and OLX_CLIENT_SECRET, and set OLX_HOST to your country's site exactly, for example https://www.olx.pl, https://www.olx.ro or https://www.olx.ua, without a path or trailing slash. It must be the country where the application was registered.
5. Install the connector, open it and click Authorize with Provider. Sign in with the OLX account whose adverts the AI should see and approve the access (the connector asks for the scopes v2 read write). Then run olx_get_me: it shows the signed-in user and confirms that OLX_HOST is the right country.

One install per country: each OLX country is its own site with its own accounts, app registration and categories. If you sell in Poland and in Romania, install the connector twice and put the country in its name. OLX Brazil runs on a different platform and is not covered.

Whose account it is: everyone using this connector reads the adverts and messages of the account that authorized it. Use the seller account, and decide who gets the connector before you share it.

What it reads: your own adverts with status (active, limited, outdated, moderated or blocked), title, price, category, location, contact, validity dates and link; full advert details with description, attributes and images; statistics per advert (views, phone number reveals, favourites); why moderation rejected or blocked an advert; the paid features currently active on an advert; message threads with buyers and their unread counts, the messages in them and the public profile of the other person; your business profile; your OLX wallet balance and bonus credits, billing history and prepaid and postpaid invoices; and the lookups an advert needs: categories with their required attributes, a category suggestion from an advert title, regions, cities, districts and the city that matches a pair of coordinates.

Only your own adverts: OLX has no API for searching other people's adverts, so the AI cannot browse the marketplace or look up competitors' listings.

Switched off at install: olx_send_message, olx_mark_thread_read, olx_deactivate_advert and olx_delete_advert. A message reaches a real buyer at once and cannot be taken back; deactivating takes a listing off the site (reactivating may cost a fee, so it is not offered here); deleting removes an advert with its statistics and messages for good. An administrator switches on only the ones the team needs.

Asks before every change: with a write tool switched on, the AI shows you the thread and the exact text, or the advert, and waits for your yes before it sends anything or takes a listing down.

Messages are untrusted: a buyer's message can contain instructions aimed at the AI. The AI treats message texts as content to read, not as commands.

Limits: OLX allows about 4,500 requests per 5 minutes per IP address and blocks the address for 30 minutes beyond that, so the AI pages through long lists at a calm pace instead of looping fast.

Common errors: 401 invalid_token means the sign-in expired or was revoked: click Authorize with Provider again. invalid_client at sign-in means the application is not accepted yet, or the Client ID and Secret come from another country's portal. 404 means the advert, thread or user is not visible to the signed-in account; for the business profile it means the account is not a business account.

The connector does not create, edit, activate or promote adverts, buy paid features or packets, or spend anything from the OLX wallet: those stay on the OLX site.

Step 3 — Add the connector in Gemini

Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide shows YOUR_SERVER_ID.

Gemini CLI reads MCP servers from ~/.gemini/settings.json (on Windows %USERPROFILE%\.gemini\settings.json). Add:

1. Create an MCP API key in AnythingMCP under MCP Servers → your server → API keys, and paste it in place of YOUR_MCP_API_KEY.
2. Save the file and restart gemini.
3. Run /mcp inside Gemini CLI (or gemini mcp list in your shell): anythingmcp should show as connected.
4. Start prompting: Gemini CLI can now call the OLX tools.
