How to Connect Pinpoint to Gemini — via MCP

Pinpoint + Gemini

Pinpoint applicant tracking (ATS): jobs, job postings, hiring workflows and stages, applications, candidates, interviews, comments, scorecards, requisitions, users and company structure. JSON:API v1 on your company's pinpointhq.com subdomain, X-API-KEY header.

Prerequisites

See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:

Step 1 — Get credentials

The connector reads Pinpoint's JSON:API v1 on your company's own subdomain with an API key. Two write tools add internal comments and move applications between stages.

1. Set PINPOINT_SUBDOMAIN to the part before .pinpointhq.com in the address you sign in at: for acme.pinpointhq.com enter acme.
2. A Pinpoint administrator opens Settings > API & Webhooks and switches on the Pinpoint API toggle. Without it no key can be created and calls answer 403.
3. On the API Keys tab, create a key and paste it into PINPOINT_API_KEY. Pinpoint recommends a separate read-only key for AI tools; pinpoint_add_comment and pinpoint_move_application_stage need a key with write access.
4. Start with pinpoint_list_jobs (status open), then pinpoint_list_applications with job_id, and pinpoint_get_application with include=candidate,stage for the details.

Things to know:

• Answers follow JSON:API: records are in data[], related records requested with include are in included[]. Ids are strings.
• page starts at 1 and page_size defaults to 100 (max 1000). Confidential jobs are hidden from pinpoint_list_jobs unless visibility names confidential.
• The limits are 120 requests per IP per minute and 240 per 8 minutes; above that Pinpoint answers 429 with Retry-After. One filtered list call with include is better than many single fetches.
• Moving an application can trigger the automatic e-mails configured on the target stage. Comments are visible to the hiring team, not to the candidate.

Step 2 — Install the adapter

Step 3 — Add the connector in Gemini

Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide shows YOUR_SERVER_ID.

Gemini CLI reads MCP servers from ~/.gemini/settings.json (on Windows %USERPROFILE%\.gemini\settings.json). Add:

1. Create an MCP API key in AnythingMCP under MCP Servers → your server → API keys, and paste it in place of YOUR_MCP_API_KEY.
2. Save the file and restart gemini.
3. Run /mcp inside Gemini CLI (or gemini mcp list in your shell) — anythingmcp should show as connected.
4. Start prompting — Gemini CLI can now call the Pinpoint tools.
