Skip the install. Get this working in under 2 minutes.
Start a free trial on cloud.anythingmcp.com, add the Ramp in one click, then point your AI client (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot or Cursor) at the generated MCP endpoint. No Docker, no git clone, zero engineering experience required.
Summary
Let your AI read your Ramp account: cards, funds and spend limits, transactions, reimbursements, bills, vendors, receipts, statements, GL accounts and users. Read-only OAuth scopes; it cannot send or approve payments. Card lock and memo actions are optional and off by default.

Ramp + Cursor
Let your AI read your Ramp account: cards, funds and spend limits, transactions, reimbursements, bills, vendors, receipts, statements, GL accounts and users. Read-only OAuth scopes; it cannot send or approve payments. Card lock and memo actions are optional and off by default.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
RAMP_CLIENT_ID, RAMP_CLIENT_SECRET
Step 1 — Get credentials
It cannot move money or approve anything, by design. The connector has no tool for bill payments, reimbursement payouts, transfers, card issuing or limit changes, not even a switched-off one, and it cannot approve a bill, a reimbursement or a transaction. Finance can ask the AI about spend without giving it a way to pay.
- Sign in to
https://app.ramp.comas an admin or business owner and open Company, then Developer. Click Create New App, name it (for example AnythingMCP) and accept the terms. - Under Grant types, add Client Credentials.
- Under Scopes, click Configure allowed scopes and allow all of these read-only scopes:
business:read,users:read,departments:read,locations:read,entities:read,cards:read,funds:read,spend_programs:read,transactions:read,reimbursements:read,bills:read,vendors:read,receipts:read,accounting:read,statements:read. The connector asks for every one of them when it gets a token, so each must be allowed in the app; if one is missing, Ramp refuses the token with invalid_scope. - Copy the Client ID into
RAMP_CLIENT_IDand the Client Secret intoRAMP_CLIENT_SECRET, then install the connector. AnythingMCP gets an access token (valid for 10 days) and renews it on its own. - Check the setup with
ramp_get_business: it shows your business name and whether reimbursements are on.
Never allow these for this app: bills:write, reimbursements:write, cards:read_vault, limits:write. With the read scopes above, the token cannot change anything in Ramp.
Switched off at install: ramp_lock_card and ramp_unlock_card (suspend a lost card and lift the suspension again) and ramp_update_transaction_memo (sets the memo, up to 255 characters, and replaces the old one). To use them, allow cards:write or memos:write in the Ramp app, add the same scope to the scope list in the connector's OAuth settings and switch the tool on. The AI then shows you the card name and last four digits, or the transaction and the new memo, and waits for your yes. Ramp's cards:write scope would also let software issue cards; this connector has no such tool.
Financial data is sensitive: balances, transactions, bills, reimbursements, cards and employee details are confidential company data. Share the MCP server only with people allowed to see them; the AI reads only what you ask for. Full card numbers and CVCs are never returned (Ramp's card vault is not used), and bank account details of entities and vendors, and vendor tax ids, are left out.
What it reads: business details and balance (card limit, available limit, statement balance and billing dates); users, departments, locations and entities; physical and virtual cards; funds (spend limits) with balance and restrictions, and spend programs; card transactions with merchant, category, memo, receipts and accounting sync status, where requires_memo finds the ones still missing a memo; out-of-pocket and mileage reimbursements; Bill Pay bills with approval status and due and paid dates; vendors with their spend totals; receipts with a temporary download link and, if you ask, the amounts Ramp read from them; general ledger accounts synced from your accounting system; and card statements with a temporary PDF link.
Amounts: a transaction amount is a plain number in dollars (90.0), while amount objects are in cents (9000 means 90.00 USD). The AI converts them.
Sandbox: with an app from Ramp's sandbox, change the connector's base URL to https://demo-api.ramp.com/developer/v1 and its token URL to https://demo-api.ramp.com/developer/v1/token. Production and sandbox credentials are separate.
Rate limit: 200 requests per 10 seconds per IP address; a 429 means waiting a few seconds.
Common errors: no access token: the client ID or secret is wrong, Client Credentials is not added, or a scope is not allowed in the app (invalid_scope). 403: the token lacks the scope of that tool. 404 with DEVELOPER_7002: Ramp does not know the token, for example a sandbox app used against production; Ramp answers 404 here instead of 401. Any other 404: the id does not exist.
The connector does not pay bills or reimbursements, move money, issue or terminate cards, change funds and limits, approve anything, upload receipts or manage users, vendors and accounting setup.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in Cursor
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
Cursor reads MCP servers from ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Add this entry:
{
"mcpServers": {
"anythingmcp": {
"url": "https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID",
"headers": { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_MCP_API_KEY" }
}
}
}
- Create an MCP API key in AnythingMCP under MCP Servers → your server → API keys, and paste it in place of
YOUR_MCP_API_KEY. - Save the file and restart Cursor.
- Open Cursor → Settings → MCP and check that
anythingmcpis listed and connected. - Start chatting: the agent can now call the
Ramptools.
