How to Connect Reddit Ads to Gemini — via MCP

Read Reddit Ads accounts through the Ads API v3: businesses, ad accounts, campaigns, ad groups, ads, funding instruments, and performance reports with spend, impressions, clicks, conversions and video metrics broken down by day, campaign, ad, country or community.

Prerequisites

See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:

Step 1 — Get credentials

The connector reads Reddit Ads through the Ads API v3 and does not create or change campaigns. It needs a developer application created in Reddit Ads; the general Reddit API apps from reddit.com/prefs/apps do not work here.

1. A business admin with a verified account opens Reddit Ads → Business → Developer Portal → Add Apps → Create an app.
2. Set the app's Redirect URL to the redirect URI shown on the connector page (on AnythingMCP Cloud: https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/api/mcp-oauth/callback).
3. Copy the App ID into REDDIT_ADS_CLIENT_ID and the app secret into REDDIT_ADS_CLIENT_SECRET and save. Leave REDDIT_ADS_REFRESH_TOKEN empty.
4. Click Authorize with Provider and sign in with the Reddit account that has access to the ad accounts. Check the username on Reddit's consent page and log out first if it shows another account. The connector asks for the adsread scope with permanent duration, stores the refresh token and renews the one-hour access token by itself.
5. Call reddit_ads_get_me, then reddit_ads_list_my_businesses and reddit_ads_list_business_ad_accounts for the ids the other tools need.

In reddit_ads_get_report, starts_at and ends_at must fall on a full hour in UTC, and money values are scaled: SPEND, CPC, CPV and ECPM are in millionths of the account currency (divide by 1,000,000). Metrics can take up to 6 hours to settle. A 403 means the authorized user has no role on that business or ad account; a 429 means wait and retry.

Step 2 — Install the adapter

Step 3 — Add the connector in Gemini

Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide shows YOUR_SERVER_ID.

Gemini CLI reads MCP servers from ~/.gemini/settings.json (on Windows %USERPROFILE%\.gemini\settings.json). Add:

1. Create an MCP API key in AnythingMCP under MCP Servers → your server → API keys, and paste it in place of YOUR_MCP_API_KEY.
2. Save the file and restart gemini.
3. Run /mcp inside Gemini CLI (or gemini mcp list in your shell) — anythingmcp should show as connected.
4. Start prompting — Gemini CLI can now call the Reddit Ads tools.
