RocketReach + ChatGPT
Give your AI RocketReach B2B data: search people and companies by name, title, employer, location, industry and size, check your credits, and look up emails, phone numbers and company profiles only for the records you choose.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
ROCKETREACH_API_KEY
Step 1 — Get credentials
- Sign in at
https://rocketreach.cowith an account that has API access (an API plan, or a plan that includes API calls). - Open Account Settings → API at
https://rocketreach.co/account?section=nav_gen_apiand choose Generate New API Key, or copy the existing key. - Paste it into
ROCKETREACH_API_KEYand install the connector. The key is sent as theApi-Keyheader and only to RocketReach. - Check the setup with
rocketreach_get_account: it shows your credits per type and your rate limits, and uses no credits.
Free: search: rocketreach_search_people, rocketreach_search_companies, rocketreach_get_account and rocketreach_check_lookup_status use no credits; searches only count against the search rate limits. Search results carry no emails or phone numbers, only a teaser (email domains and masked phones) that hints whether a lookup will find something.
Lookups cost credits, so the AI asks first: rocketreach_lookup_person spends a lookup credit and a person export credit when contact data is found (a premium lookup when a top-grade email or a valid phone number is found, a standard one for an email only). No data found, no charge, and looking up the same person again later is free while your plan is active. rocketreach_lookup_company spends a company export credit; company lookups are not part of every plan. Both add the record to My Contacts or My Companies in RocketReach. Before a lookup the AI shows you who or what it will look up and that it costs credits, and waits for your yes.
How it works: the AI searches with facets such as current title, employer, location, industry, company size and revenue (for example {"current_title": ["CFO"], "geo": ["Germany"]}), shows you the matches and looks up only the people you pick, by RocketReach id, LinkedIn URL, email, or name plus current employer. A person lookup often takes a few seconds: the AI checks the status for free until it is complete. A company lookup returns the full profile: domain, address, phone, employee count, revenue, industry, SIC and NAICS codes, technologies, competitors, headcount by department and growth.
Personal data, B2B use only: person lookups return real people's work and personal email addresses and phone numbers. Use them only for a legitimate business purpose you can justify, such as B2B sales or recruiting under legitimate interest, in line with the GDPR, CAN-SPAM and RocketReach's terms. Prefer professional emails for business outreach, keep only what you need, and do not build mass mailing lists or look up private individuals. The connector gives the AI the same rules.
Paging and rate limits: pages hold up to 100 records and a query reaches at most 10,000. RocketReach allows 10 requests a second across the API, plus per-minute, hourly, daily and monthly caps for search and lookup depending on your plan. A 429 carries the wait time in Retry-After.
Common errors: 401: the API key is wrong or missing. 403: the key lacks permission for this call, the lookup credits are used up, the plan has no company lookups, or a status check asked for a profile that is not in your contacts. 400: an invalid parameter or facet. 404: no such profile or company.
Universal Credits: RocketReach is moving some customers to Universal Credits, which use separate endpoints. This connector uses the standard endpoints; if calls fail on a Universal Credits account, ask RocketReach which endpoints your account can use.
The connector does not do bulk lookups, combined person and company lookups, email verification, webhooks or API key rotation.
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Step 3 — Add the connector in ChatGPT
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
ChatGPT adds MCP servers as plugins on its Plugins page, on the web and on paid plans. Developer mode is no longer needed. In a Business workspace only admins and owners can add one; in Enterprise and Edu an admin can grant the Create plugins with MCPs permission.
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, click +, then Add custom MCP server.
- Enter a name, e.g. Name:
RocketReach. - Under Connection, enter the Server URL
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_IDand keep Authentication on OAuth. - Select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin. When ChatGPT asks, sign in to AnythingMCP and allow access.
- Install the new plugin from your personal plugins, then type @ in a chat and pick it.
