Summary
No ready-made AnythingMCP connector for Shopify yet. How to use Shopify in Muse today: Shopify's own MCP offering, or its GraphQL API imported into AnythingMCP yourself.
There is no ready-made AnythingMCP connector for Shopify yet. Shopify is not in the AnythingMCP connector catalog, on Cloud or self-hosted. This guide covers what works today: Shopify's own MCP offering, or importing the Shopify GraphQL API into AnythingMCP yourself and connecting it to Muse.
Shopify + Meta Muse
Shopify's own MCP server
Shopify's MCP offering is aimed at developers: the Shopify AI Toolkit runs a Dev MCP server locally that searches Shopify's docs and GraphQL schemas, validates code and can run supported store tasks through the Shopify CLI; see shopify.dev. Shopify's docs don't describe a hosted MCP server for your store's admin data that you could add by URL.
Step 1 — Get Shopify credentials
You need an Admin API access token for your store, with only the scopes the AI needs (for example read_orders, read_products). A custom app created in the Shopify admin before 2026 has one. Since January 1, 2026, new apps are created in Shopify's Dev Dashboard: they give you a client ID and secret that you exchange for an access token (client credentials grant, for stores in the same Shopify organization), and those tokens expire after 24 hours.
Step 2 — Import the Shopify API into AnythingMCP
Sign in to AnythingMCP Cloud (7-day free trial) or run your own instance with Docker:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
- Go to Connectors → Add Connector and choose GraphQL.
- Enter
https://your-store.myshopify.com/admin/api/2026-07/graphql.jsonas the Base URL. - Enter the same endpoint as GraphQL Introspection URL.
- Under Authentication, choose API Key, header name
X-Shopify-Access-Token, and paste the access token. - Create the connector. AnythingMCP reads the schema and offers its queries and mutations as tools; switch off the ones you don't need.
- Under MCP Servers, open your server and switch the new connector on.
Replace your-store with your shop and 2026-07 with a current API version from Shopify's release notes. The Admin schema has hundreds of queries and mutations: keep the ones you need and switch the rest off. A fixed token pasted as API key suits a custom-app token; a 24-hour Dev Dashboard token would have to be replaced every day.
What you can expose once it's imported
The tools depend on the endpoints you import. For example:
- Look up orders by status, date or customer
- Read products, variants and inventory levels
- Update a product or adjust inventory
- Read customers and their order history
Step 3 — Add the connector in Muse
Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide showsYOUR_SERVER_ID.
Muse adds remote MCP servers as custom connectors and signs in to them with OAuth.
- In Muse, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Paste the MCP server URL
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID. - Muse opens the AnythingMCP sign-in page: sign in and approve access.
- In a chat, ask Muse for something that needs the Shopify tools you imported.
You can also set it up from a chat, on the web, in the iOS and Android apps or in WhatsApp. Send Muse this message:
Create a Custom Connector for a new remote MCP server, then connect to it:
Name: AnythingMCP
Transport: remote streamable HTTP
URL: https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID
Auth: OAuth
Self-hosting? Use your instance's public HTTPS address instead of https://cloud.anythingmcp.com. Muse connects from Meta's cloud, so localhost does not work.
FAQ
Is there a ready-made Shopify connector in AnythingMCP? Not yet. Shopify is not in the connector catalog, so there is nothing to install in one click: import its API as shown above, or use Shopify's own MCP offering if it covers what you need.
Where is Muse available? Meta currently offers Muse in the US and Canada, on the web, in the iOS and Android apps and in WhatsApp.
Does Meta review this connector? No. Meta doesn't review custom connectors. Muse sees only the tools you switched on for this MCP server in AnythingMCP, and you can disconnect it anytime under Settings → Connectors.
