Claude is AI and can make mistakes. Please double-check responses.
Self-hosted only. Untappd refuses requests from datacenter IP addresses, and AnythingMCP Cloud runs in a datacenter, so this connector is not available on AnythingMCP Cloud. It works on an AnythingMCP instance you run yourself on a computer or server with a regular home or office internet connection.
Untappd + Microsoft Copilot
Search Untappd's beer database from any AI assistant. Find beers by name, brewery, or style; read beer detail with ratings; look up venues and check-ins. 4 tools, requires free Untappd API client_id + client_secret.
Prerequisites
See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:
UNTAPPD_CLIENT_ID, UNTAPPD_CLIENT_SECRET
Step 1 — Get credentials
This connector wraps Untappd's REST API (api.untappd.com/v4).
Setup: Untappd requires a free API client_id + client_secret. Apply for them at https://untappd.com/api/register. Approval is usually fast.
Provide:
UNTAPPD_CLIENT_ID— your app's client IDUNTAPPD_CLIENT_SECRET— your app's client secret
What's exposed: public, unauthenticated endpoints (no user OAuth needed for basic search + lookup). For per-user data (your check-ins, your wishlist), you'd need OAuth — not included in this connector.
Rate limits: Untappd publishes 100 req/hour per client. The connector does not auto-retry on 429; respect the limit.
…(continued in the in-app connector instructions)
Step 2 — Install the adapter
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
- Open
http://localhost:3000and register. The first account becomes the admin. - Open the connector store (
http://localhost:3000/connectors/store), pick Untappd, fill in the credentials it asks for (some connectors need none) and install it. - Under MCP Servers, create a server and assign the Untappd connector to it. On the server's page, copy the MCP endpoint (
http://localhost:4000/mcp/<server-id>) and generate a key under API keys.
The quickstart listens on localhost only. For an instance that other people or cloud-based AI clients can reach, clone the repository and run ./setup.sh, which sets up a domain, HTTPS and OAuth (deployment guide).
Step 3 — Add the Untappd connector to Microsoft Copilot
Copilot Studio connects to MCP servers from Microsoft's cloud, so it cannot reach the localhost endpoint of the quickstart. To use Untappd in Microsoft Copilot you need an AnythingMCP instance with a public HTTPS address (see ./setup.sh above) on a connection Untappd accepts. In Copilot Studio, open your agent, go to Tools → Add a tool → New tool → Model Context Protocol, paste the instance's MCP endpoint and choose API key with the header X-API-Key. Then publish the agent to the Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams channel.
If a public instance is not an option, use a client that runs on your computer instead: Claude Code, Cursor or Gemini CLI reach localhost directly.

FAQ
Why isn't Untappd available on AnythingMCP Cloud? Untappd refuses requests from datacenter IP addresses. AnythingMCP Cloud runs in a datacenter, so every call would fail. An AnythingMCP instance on a home or office connection usually works.
Which Copilot is this for? Microsoft 365 Copilot at work, through agents built in Copilot Studio. The Microsoft Copilot app for personal accounts has no option to add your own MCP server.
What do I need? A work account with access to Copilot Studio (a license or a trial) to build the agent. People who use it in Microsoft 365 Copilot or Teams need access to the agent: share it with them, or ask an admin to publish it to the organization. If your organization applies data policies to Power Platform connectors, they cover MCP servers too.
The agent doesn't call the tools. Check that the header name is exactly X-API-Key and that the key belongs to the same MCP server as the URL, and make the server description specific: Copilot Studio uses it to decide when to call the server. Publish the agent again after each change; in an open chat, type "start over" to get the new version.
