How to Connect WANotifier to ChatGPT — via MCP

WANotifier + ChatGPT

WANotifier on the official WhatsApp Business API: browse and update contacts, lists and tags, and send WhatsApp text, image and document replies inside the 24-hour conversation window.

Prerequisites

See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:

WANOTIFIER_API_KEY

Step 1 — Get credentials

1. In WANotifier, open Automations → Integrations, click Manage on API Integration under Direct Integrations and open the API Keys tab.
2. Copy My API Key into WANOTIFIER_API_KEY; it is sent as the key query parameter. There is no QR code: your number is connected to Meta's WhatsApp Business API inside WANotifier during onboarding.
3. Start with wanotifier_list_contact_lists and wanotifier_list_contact_tags for the ids, then wanotifier_list_contacts. wanotifier_upsert_contact creates or updates a contact by WhatsApp number.

The send tools (text, image, document) only work inside an open 24-hour conversation window, i.e. when the contact wrote to your number in the last 24 hours. Outside it WhatsApp only accepts approved templates, which this REST API does not send: use a WANotifier notification and its webhook for those. Numbers are E.164 with + and country code (+919876543210); media must be a public HTTPS file URL. The API allows 300 requests per minute per key.

Step 2 — Install the adapter

Step 3 — Add the connector in ChatGPT

Your server URL: in AnythingMCP, open MCP Servers → the server this connector is on, and copy its URL (https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/…). Use it wherever this guide shows YOUR_SERVER_ID.

ChatGPT connects to MCP servers as custom apps in developer mode, available on paid plans (not on Free). On Business and Enterprise workspaces an admin may have to allow it first.

1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
2. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins and click +.
3. Enter a name and a short description, e.g. Name: WANotifier.
4. Under Connection, enter the MCP server URL https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp/YOUR_SERVER_ID and create the connection.
5. When ChatGPT asks, sign in to AnythingMCP (OAuth) and allow access.
