GoDaddy
Domains registered at GoDaddy through the GoDaddy Domains API: list domains and their status, expiry, lock and auto-renew, check availability and prices, get name suggestions, read and change DNS records, nameservers and WHOIS contacts, and renew a domain. Personal Access Token.
Setup
Setting up takes about 3 minutes. You need the GoDaddy account that holds the domains.
- Sign in at https://developer.godaddy.com/personal-access-token with that account and select Generate Token.
- Give it a name, an expiry (up to 1 year) and the scopes it needs:
domains.domain:readfor the read tools; adddomains.dns:updateto change DNS records, domains.domain:updatefor lock, auto-renew and renewal, domains.nameserver:updatefor nameservers anddomains.contact:updatefor contacts. The Domains & DNS bundle selects all of them. - Copy the token, which is shown once, into
GODADDY_PAT. - Install the connector and run
godaddy_list_domainsto check it.
GoDaddy's older key and secret still work on these endpoints, but GoDaddy is retiring them for the Domains API during 2026, so the connector uses the Personal Access Token.
Who may use the API: GoDaddy says domain management needs an account that holds at least one domain or a plan with management access, and anything that costs money needs a payment method on file or a funded Good as Gold balance. Since 2024 GoDaddy has limited the Management and DNS APIs to accounts with 10 or more domains or a Discount Domain Club plan. The current documentation no longer states those thresholds, but a 403 with a code such as ACCESS_DENIED still means an eligibility rule, not a wrong token.
Domains: the AI lists the portfolio (filtered by status, optionally with contacts and nameservers) and reads one domain with status, expiry, auto-renew, transfer lock, privacy, nameservers and the four contacts. The transfer authorization code is removed from the answer. To find a name it checks availability for one domain or up to 500 at once, suggests alternatives from keywords and lists the extensions GoDaddy sells. These tools only read: buying a domain happens at godaddy.com.
DNS: the AI reads the whole zone or the records of one type and name. Adding appends records and keeps the existing ones (calling it twice adds duplicates), replacing overwrites every record of one type and name (the usual way to change an A record or a TXT value), and deleting removes every record of one type and name. Record name is relative to the domain (@ is the domain itself), and ttl is in seconds, from 600 to 86400.
Settings and contacts: godaddy_update_domain sets the transfer lock, auto-renew or the nameservers. New nameservers move DNS away from GoDaddy, and the DNS tools then no longer manage the domain. godaddy_update_contacts replaces the WHOIS contacts; a new registrant name, organization or email can start a 60-day transfer lock and a confirmation email. The ICANN registrant verification email can be sent again.
Confirm before writes: DNS, nameserver and contact changes can take a website or email offline, so the AI reads the current values first, shows what will change and waits for your yes.
Switched off at install: godaddy_renew_domain. It charges the account's payment method, so turn it on only if the AI may spend money; even then it confirms the domain, the years and the price with you first.
Formats: availability prices are in micro units of currency (12990000 USD is 12.99 USD) and are indicative; definitive: false means the answer came from a cache. Dates are ISO 8601 in UTC. Writes answer 200 or 204 with no body on success.
Limits: about 600 requests per credential in a window of roughly 23 minutes; on 429 the AI waits for the reset. The domain list returns up to 1000 domains per page and continues from the last domain of the page.
Common errors: 401 means a wrong, revoked or expired token; 403 a missing scope or an account that does not meet GoDaddy's eligibility rules; 404 a domain that is not in this account or a type and name with no records; 409 or 422 a value GoDaddy refuses, such as a TTL under 600, with the field in fields.
The connector does not register new domains, transfer or cancel domains, or set up forwarding.
Prerequisites: GODADDY_PAT
Install the connector locally
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d
Open http://localhost:3000/connectors/store, pick GoDaddy and paste in the env vars listed under Prerequisites.
