Guides for Cal.com
Step-by-step setup for the most popular AI clients.
Setting up Cal.com
From the connector definition itself: where to find the credentials, what they need to be allowed to do, and which API this adapter talks to.
Cal.com
This connector uses the Cal.com API v2 (https://api.cal.com/v2, or https://api.cal.eu/v2 for accounts in Cal.com's EU region) with a personal API key: the key owner's profile, event types, bookings with attendees, Cal Video recordings and transcripts, free slots, availability schedules and connected calendars. Creating, rescheduling and cancelling bookings are installed switched off.
Setup (about 2 minutes)
- Sign in to Cal.com and open Settings > Developer > API Keys (https://app.cal.com/settings/developer/api-keys, or app.cal.eu for the EU region).
- Click New, give the key a name (for example AnythingMCP) and an expiry, and copy it. It starts with
cal_live_(orcal_test_for test mode) and is shown once. Paste it intoCALCOM_API_KEY. - Set
CALCOM_API_HOSTtohttps://api.cal.com, orhttps://api.cal.euif you sign in at app.cal.eu. A key only works on its own region (401 on the other one).
The key acts as the user who created it: it sees that user's event types and bookings, plus team bookings where the user is a host or admin. It is sent as Authorization: Bearer <key>.
Versioned endpoints. Cal.com picks the response format by a cal-api-version header per endpoint (bookings 2024-08-13, event types 2024-06-14, slots 2024-09-04, schedules 2024-06-11). The tools send the right one; without it Cal.com answers in an older format.
Which tool first
- Who am I and which key:
calcom_get_me. - Meetings:
calcom_list_bookings(statusupcoming,past,cancelled,unconfirmed; dates in ISO 8601) thencalcom_get_bookingwith the booking uid (a string, not the numeric id). - Finding a time:
calcom_list_event_typesfor the event type id, thencalcom_get_available_slotswithstart,endand thetimeZonethe user thinks in. Slot times come back in that time zone; booking start times must be sent in UTC. - Working hours:
calcom_get_default_scheduleorcalcom_list_schedules.
Pagination. calcom_list_bookings pages with take and skip; the answer has pagination.totalItems and hasNextPage.
Writes (off by default). calcom_create_booking, calcom_reschedule_booking and calcom_cancel_booking email real attendees and change real calendars. An admin can turn them on per tool. Before each call show the user the event type, time (in their time zone), attendee and reason, and wait for a yes. Nothing here takes or refunds payments.
Errors. 401 Invalid API Key: wrong, expired or revoked key, or the key belongs to the other region. 404: wrong uid or id, or not visible to this user. 400: the message names the bad field (often a start time that is not a free slot).
Limits. 120 requests a minute per API key by default; 429 means wait a minute.
