Setting up Factorial HR

From the connector definition itself: where to find the credentials, what they need to be allowed to do, and which API this adapter talks to.

Manage company HR data with Factorial: inspect employees, organizational teams, time-off/leave requests, and attendance shifts.

Authentication:

  1. Sign in to your Factorial workspace at https://app.factorialhr.com (or demo at https://app.demo.factorial.dev).
  2. Navigate to Settings → API Keys.
  3. Generate a company API key and copy it immediately.
  4. Set the FACTORIAL_API_KEY environment variable. Calls are authenticated via the x-api-key header.

Identifiers:

  • Employee IDs: numeric strings or integers identifying an employee (e.g. "123456").
  • Team IDs: numeric strings identifying a team or department (e.g. "4567").
  • Leave IDs: numeric strings identifying a time-off request (e.g. "78901").
  • Shift IDs: numeric strings identifying an attendance record (e.g. "89012").

Pagination and limits:

  • Cursor-based pagination using limit, after_id, and before_id.
  • The maximum and default page size is 100 items per request; list tools default to limit: 20 for concise responses.
  • Responses contain a meta object with has_next_page, end_cursor, has_previous_page, and start_cursor alongside the data array.
  • To fetch the next page, pass after_id = meta.end_cursor from the previous page while meta.has_next_page is true.

Common workflows:

  1. Find an employee and check profile: Call factorial_hr_list_employees with full_text_name or only_active: true, then call factorial_hr_get_employee with the returned employee id.
  2. Review team structure: Call factorial_hr_list_teams to list departments and managers, then list employees filtering by team_ids.
  3. Audit attendance and leave: Call factorial_hr_list_leaves for an employee's requested time-off, and call factorial_hr_list_shifts to inspect clocked shifts in a date range.

Limitations:

  • Read-only connector: write, update, and delete actions are not supported.
  • Requires company-wide API key with appropriate permissions (some employee fields depend on admin privileges).
