Step-by-step setup for the most popular AI clients.
Setting up FXMacroData
From the connector definition itself: where to find the credentials, what they need to be allowed to do, and which API this adapter talks to.
This connector reads the FXMacroData REST API (api.fxmacrodata.com/v1): macroeconomic releases, central-bank policy rates, release calendars and FX rates for 22 currencies (AUD, BRL, CAD, CHF, CNH, CNY, DKK, EUR, GBP, HUF, ILS, JPY, KRW, MYR, NGN, NOK, NZD, PEN, SEK, THB, TWD, USD). Each value comes from the official publisher (BLS, ECB, RBA, ONS and so on) and is timestamped at publication. Every tool is a read-only GET.
Setup: nothing is required to start. Without a key the API serves:
- the data catalogue for every currency;
- the USD release calendar;
- USD announcements for the most recent 90 days, each release readable 15 minutes after it is published.
Other currencies, FX rates, full history and real-time releases need a key: subscribe at https://fxmacrodata.com/subscribe and set FXMACRODATA_API_KEY. The key is sent as the X-API-Key header, and only when it is set; a wrong key is answered with 401 invalid_api_key even on the free routes. Keyless traffic has a fair-use allowance of 100 requests a day.
Free-tier answers say so: a keyless announcement response carries freemium_window (history cut to 90 days) and freemium_delay (15-minute delay, withheld_count, message). When freemium_delay.withheld_count is above zero, a newer release has been published that the free tier cannot show yet: say so, and do not present the older value as the current one. A route that needs a key answers 401 with code: api_key_required; the data exists behind a subscription, it is not missing.
Tools
fxmacrodata_data_catalogue: start here. Lists every indicator slug a currency publishes (inflation,policy_rate,unemployment,gdp,non_farm_payrolls, bond yields...) with unit, frequency, source and coverage. Use its slugs in the other tools.fxmacrodata_latest_announcements: the most recent release of every indicator for one currency.fxmacrodata_indicator_history: the release history of one indicator, filtered bystart_date/end_date.fxmacrodata_release_calendar: scheduled releases for one currency.fxmacrodata_fx_rates: daily FX rates for a pair of supported currencies (key required).
Reading the data
dateon an announcement or calendar row is the reference period the value describes (the month, for CPI), NOT the day it was released. Release timing isannouncement_datetime(Unix seconds, UTC) andannouncement_datetime_local(publisher time zone). Sort and compare releases byannouncement_datetime.- A row with
release_time_assumed: truehas a release time derived from the series' usual publication lag rather than captured from the release. valis the value;source_urllinks the official publication. Credit the publisher (for example "Bureau of Labor Statistics, via FXMacroData").- List endpoints return 20 rows by default and take
limitup to 100. To read a full range, repeat the call withoffset=pagination.next_offsetwhilepagination.has_moreis true. - Dates are
YYYY-MM-DD. Currency codes are lowercase.
