Gamma

This connector calls the Gamma public API (https://public-api.gamma.app/v1.0) with the user's own API key, sent as the X-API-KEY header. It creates presentations, documents, webpages and social posts ("gammas") from text or from a template, polls the generation, exports existing gammas, and looks up themes, folders, templates and gammas.

Plan and credits: API keys exist only on the paid Pro, Ultra, Teams and Business plans. Every generation spends the workspace's Gamma credits: 1 to 3 credits per card, plus 2 to 125 credits per AI image depending on the image model (Gamma's figures, subject to change; template generations cost slightly more per card). A 10-card deck with 5 basic images costs about 20 to 60 credits. Confirm the topic, format, number of cards and image source with the user before gamma_generate, gamma_generate_multi_page or gamma_generate_from_template. For a cheap draft use few cards and imageOptions.source noImages, pexels or placeholder.

Setup (about 2 minutes)

1. Sign in at https://gamma.app on a Pro, Ultra, Teams or Business plan.
2. Open Settings > API Keys (https://gamma.app/settings/api-keys) and create a key. It starts with sk-gamma-.
3. Paste it into GAMMA_API_KEY and install. It is sent only to Gamma.

How a generation works

1. Optional lookups: gamma_list_themes for a themeId, gamma_list_folders for a folderId, gamma_search_templates for a template's id.
2. Start it with gamma_generate (one page from inputText), gamma_generate_multi_page (up to 50 pages in one file, optionally published as a Gamma site) or gamma_generate_from_template (a one-page template gamma plus a prompt). Each returns a generationId at once.
3. Call gamma_get_generation about every 5 to 10 seconds until status is completed or failed. A small deck takes under a minute; 40 cards with AI images can take several minutes. When completed it returns gammaUrl, gammaId, exportUrl (only if exportAs was set) and credits (deducted, remaining).
4. To export an existing gamma later, call gamma_export_gamma, then gamma_get_export until status is completed and read exportUrl.

Existing gammas: gamma_search_gammas finds gammas by words in their title and text, or lists them by creator (createdBy me) and update date; gamma_get_gamma returns one gamma's details (title, url, theme, author, dates), not its slide content.

Options worth knowing

• textMode: generate expands a short brief, condense summarizes long text, preserve keeps the user's text.
• format: presentation (default), document, webpage or social. cardOptions.dimensions sets the shape (16x9, 4x3, fluid for presentations; pageless, letter, a4 for documents; 1x1, 4x5, 9x16 for social).
• numCards defaults to 10 (1 to 75 on paid plans) and is only honoured with cardSplit auto; with inputTextBreaks each \n---\n in inputText starts a new card.
• There is no theme-by-name parameter: look the theme up with gamma_list_themes (query searches names) and pass its id as themeId.
• exportAs is one of pdf, pptx or png (a .zip with one PNG per card).

Export links: exportUrl works for anyone holding it for about a week and is not tied to the API key. Hand it only to the user who asked for it.

Time limit: a call through this connector is cut after 30 seconds, so always poll instead of waiting.

Common errors

• 401: the key is wrong, deleted or the plan has no API access.
• 402: the workspace is out of credits. Buy credits or enable auto-recharge at https://gamma.app/settings/billing.
• 403: the plan does not include the feature, or the key's user may not use that gamma or folder (exports and templates need view access).
• 400: an invalid option, for example a themeId that does not exist or an explore template id passed as gammaId; the message names the field.
• 429: rate limited. Wait about 30 seconds and retry once, then back off.
• 404 on a status call: the id is unknown or belongs to another workspace.

Out of scope here: the Gamma 5 agent and edit endpoints, standalone image generation, comments, analytics, archiving and deleting gammas.
