Hetzner Cloud

This connector uses the Hetzner Cloud API (https://api.hetzner.cloud/v1): servers, images and snapshots, volumes, private networks, firewalls, load balancers, IPs, SSH keys, certificates, DNS zones, pricing and actions. It does not cover Hetzner Robot (dedicated servers) or Storage Boxes.

Setup

In the Hetzner Console open your project, then Security > API tokens > Generate API token. Choose Read for a read-only connector, or Read & Write if you plan to enable the power tools. Copy the token into HETZNER_CLOUD_API_TOKEN; it is shown only once. A token belongs to one project: create one connector per project. It is sent as Authorization: Bearer <token>.

hetzner_cloud_list_servers for what is running, hetzner_cloud_get_server for one server, hetzner_cloud_get_server_metrics for its load, hetzner_cloud_get_pricing and hetzner_cloud_list_server_types for costs. Ids are integers; most list tools also filter by exact name and by label_selector (env=prod, env in (prod,staging), !temporary).

Pagination and limits

Lists return meta.pagination with page, per_page, next_page and total_entries. Use page and per_page (at most 50) and stop when next_page is null. The API allows 3600 requests per hour per project; the bucket refills one request per second. A 429 means wait.

Metrics

start and end are RFC 3339 times. Keep the window reasonable (hours or days); step sets the resolution in seconds.

Power tools (disabled by default)

hetzner_cloud_power_on_server, hetzner_cloud_power_off_server, hetzner_cloud_shutdown_server, hetzner_cloud_reboot_server and hetzner_cloud_reset_server are installed switched off. Enable them deliberately, with a Read & Write token. Power off and reset cut the server like pulling the plug; prefer shutdown or reboot, which ask the OS. Every power tool returns an action: poll hetzner_cloud_get_action until its status is success or error. A server that is off is still billed. This connector has no tool that deletes, creates or rebuilds anything.
