Telnyx

This connector works with one Telnyx account through the Telnyx API v2 (https://api.telnyx.com/v2) with an API key: balance, phone numbers (owned and available), SMS and MMS, Call Control calls, call recordings, detail records and usage reports, number lookup, Verify one-time codes and AI assistants.

Setup (about 3 minutes)

1. Sign in to the Mission Control Portal at https://portal.telnyx.com.
2. Open Account settings, Keys & Credentials, API Keys (https://portal.telnyx.com/#/app/api-keys) and click Create API Key. The key starts with KEY and is shown only once.
3. Paste it into TELNYX_API_KEY and install. The key is sent as Authorization: Bearer <key> to api.telnyx.com only, and it acts for the whole account: share the MCP server only with people allowed to spend money on it.
4. Check the setup with telnyx_get_balance.

Sending, calling and buying cost money and reach real people: confirm first. telnyx_send_message, telnyx_dial_call, telnyx_speak_text and telnyx_send_verification are billed per message, minute, use or verification. Before calling them, show the user recipient, sender and content and wait for the user's yes. telnyx_order_phone_numbers buys numbers with an upfront and a monthly fee and is installed switched off; an administrator turns it on deliberately. Number lookups (telnyx_lookup_number) are billed per lookup.

How to work

1. Account and numbers: telnyx_get_balance, telnyx_list_phone_numbers, telnyx_get_phone_number. Find numbers to buy with telnyx_search_available_numbers (free); buy them with telnyx_order_phone_numbers and follow the order with telnyx_get_number_order.
2. Messaging: a number sends SMS only when it is assigned to a messaging profile (telnyx_list_messaging_profiles). Send with telnyx_send_message and read the delivery status with telnyx_get_message.
3. Calls: telnyx_list_call_control_applications gives the connection_id. telnyx_dial_call returns a call_control_id; poll telnyx_get_call_status until the call is answered, then telnyx_speak_text, and end it with telnyx_hangup_call. Set time_limit_secs on the dial to cap the cost. Call events (answered, speak ended, hangup) are sent to the application's webhook URL, which this connector does not receive. Recordings: telnyx_list_recordings and telnyx_get_recording.
4. Reporting: telnyx_search_detail_records for single messages and calls with cost, telnyx_get_usage_report_options and telnyx_get_usage_report for totals per product.
5. Verify: create a Verify profile once in the portal, list it with telnyx_list_verify_profiles, send a code with telnyx_send_verification, check it with telnyx_check_verification_code and read it with telnyx_get_verification.
6. AI assistants: telnyx_list_ai_assistants and telnyx_get_ai_assistant (read-only).

Numbers are E.164: +, country code and number without spaces (+4915112345678).

Paging: lists answer with meta.total_pages and meta.page_number; pass page_number (from 1) and page_size for more.

Common errors

• 401 (10009): the API key is wrong, deleted or was pasted with a prefix. Create a new key in the portal.
• 403: the account may not use this feature yet (for example sending to a country or buying numbers before account verification), or the key lacks permission.
• 404 (10005): no such resource on this account.
• 422 (10015 and others): a parameter is invalid, e.g. the from number has no messaging profile, the call is not answered yet, or the number is not in E.164.
• 429: too many requests; wait and retry.

Out of scope here: porting, number configuration and release, SIP trunking, TeXML, conferences, fax, WhatsApp templates, 10DLC brand and campaign registration, creating or changing AI assistants, and webhooks.
