The Odds API

This connector reads The Odds API v4 (https://api.the-odds-api.com/v4, the-odds-api.com): betting odds from many bookmakers in the US, UK, EU and Australia for soccer, American football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey, tennis, cricket, MMA and more, plus scores and historical odds. Every tool only reads. It is a different service from the Odds API connector (odds-api, odds-api.io): use this one when your key comes from the-odds-api.com.

Setup. Get a key at https://the-odds-api.com (a free plan with 500 credits a month exists) and paste it into THE_ODDS_API_KEY. It is sent as the apiKey query parameter and is never a tool argument.

Credits. Most calls spend credits from the monthly quota, and every answer reports the balance in _headers: x-requests-remaining, x-requests-used and x-requests-last (the cost of that call). Read it and tell the user when it runs low.

• Free: the_odds_api_list_sports, the_odds_api_list_events.
• 1 credit: the_odds_api_get_scores (2 with days_from), the_odds_api_get_event_markets, the_odds_api_list_participants, the_odds_api_get_historical_events.
• Odds: markets times regions. One market in one region costs 1; h2h,spreads,totals in us,eu costs 6. Ten bookmakers in bookmakers count as one region. Start with one market and one region.
• Historical odds (paid plans only): 10 credits per market per region. Ask the user before calling them.

Workflow.

1. the_odds_api_list_sports for the sport key (soccer_epl, basketball_nba, americanfootball_nfl ...).
2. the_odds_api_list_events for event ids and start times (free).
3. the_odds_api_get_odds for a whole sport, or the_odds_api_get_event_markets then the_odds_api_get_event_odds for one game, including player props.
4. the_odds_api_get_scores for live scores and recent results.

Reading the data. Times are ISO 8601 in UTC. Odds are decimal unless odds_format is american. Each bookmaker has last_update; prices change constantly, so quote the time. Soccer h2h has three outcomes including Draw. Implied probability = 1 / decimal odds.

Errors. 401: key missing, wrong or out of credits. 422: an invalid parameter, such as an unknown market or region, or a historical call on a plan without history. 429: too many requests at once; wait a second and retry. 404 on an event: it has started or finished and is no longer listed.
