Vimeo

This connector works with one Vimeo account through the Vimeo API (https://api.vimeo.com, version 3.4): the account, its videos (list, search, details), folders, showcases, comments, captions and transcripts. It can upload a video from a public URL and change a video's title, description and privacy. It authenticates with a personal access token of a Vimeo app of your own, sent as a Bearer token.

Setup (about 5 minutes)

1. Sign in at https://developer.vimeo.com/apps with the Vimeo account the AI should work with and click Create an app (any name and description; choose that only you will access it). Accept the terms.
2. On the app page open Generate an access token: choose Authenticated (you) and tick the scopes Public, Private, Edit, Upload and Stats. Add Delete only if you will switch on vimeo_delete_video. Click Generate.
3. Copy the token (shown once) into VIMEO_ACCESS_TOKEN and install. vimeo_get_me checks it.

The token does not expire; it stops working when you delete it on the app page or delete the app. Scopes cannot be added to an existing token: generate a new one.

Confirm before every change. vimeo_upload_video_from_url and vimeo_update_video change the account at once: say what will happen (and, for privacy, who will be able to watch) and wait for the user's yes. vimeo_delete_video is installed switched off.

Ids: a video uri is /videos/<id>; the id is also the number in vimeo.com/<id>. A folder uri is /users/<user id>/projects/<folder id> and a showcase uri /users/<user id>/albums/<showcase id>; the tools take the last number. "Projects" and "albums" are the API names of folders and showcases.

Uploads use Vimeo's pull approach: the file must be at a public URL that stays reachable for 24 hours (a direct download link, not a web page). Vimeo then downloads and transcodes it; vimeo_get_video shows upload.status and transcode.status (complete when done). Uploads count against the plan's storage and weekly quota (vimeo_get_me shows upload_quota).

Privacy (privacy.view): anybody (public), unlisted (anyone with the link), nobody (only you), password, contacts, users, team, or disable (hidden on vimeo.com, playable only where embedded). Free plans cannot use every option; Vimeo answers 400 or 403 then.

Captions and transcripts: vimeo_list_text_tracks lists the caption and subtitle tracks with a temporary WebVTT link; vimeo_get_transcript returns one track as timed segments. Both need a video the account owns.

Tools: vimeo_get_me, vimeo_list_my_videos, vimeo_get_video, vimeo_list_folders, vimeo_list_folder_items, vimeo_list_folder_videos, vimeo_list_showcases, vimeo_list_showcase_videos, vimeo_list_video_comments, vimeo_list_text_tracks, vimeo_get_transcript (read); vimeo_upload_video_from_url, vimeo_update_video (changes, confirm first); vimeo_delete_video (switched off).

Paging: list tools return total, page, per_page and next; ask for the next page while next is set. per_page is at most 100. The tools ask Vimeo for a reduced set of fields to keep answers small.

Errors (Vimeo adds error, developer_message and an error_code)

• 401 (error_code 8003 "The app didn't receive the user's credentials", or 8000 "invalid token"): the token is missing, wrong or deleted; generate a new one.
• 403: the token lacks a scope (e.g. Upload or Edit) or the plan does not allow the action.
• 404: the video, folder or showcase does not exist or belongs to another account.
• 429: too many requests; Vimeo's limits depend on the plan. Wait and try again.

Out of scope: downloading video files, live events, analytics reports, webhooks, chapters, thumbnails, custom players, and managing team members.
