Guides for Wix

Step-by-step setup for the most popular AI clients.

Setting up Wix

From the connector definition itself: where to find the credentials, what they need to be allowed to do, and which API this adapter talks to.

Wix

This connector talks to the Wix REST APIs (https://www.wixapis.com) for one Wix site: its business details and URLs, Wix Stores products, eCommerce orders, contacts, Wix Bookings appointments and services, and Wix Blog posts. It suits a small business that runs its shop, bookings or blog on Wix.

Setup

  1. Sign in to Wix as the account owner or a co-owner and open the API Keys Manager (https://manage.wix.com/account/api-keys).
  2. Generate API key. Give it access to the site you want to connect (or to all sites) and the permissions for the Wix apps you use: site properties, Wix Stores, eCommerce orders, contacts, Wix Bookings, Wix Blog. Read permissions are enough for every tool except wix_create_contact, which needs permission to manage contacts.
  3. Copy the key into WIX_API_KEY.
  4. Open the site's dashboard: the site ID is the UUID after /dashboard/ in the browser address. Put it in WIX_SITE_ID.

The key goes in the Authorization header as is (no Bearer), and every call carries wix-site-id. One connector covers one site; add the connector again for another site. A key only works on sites owned by the account that created it. Account-level APIs (listing sites, managing the account) need a wix-account-id header instead of the site ID and are not part of this connector.

Start here

wix_get_site_properties checks the key and site ID and tells what the site is (store, restaurant, blog, events...). For a shop, call wix_get_catalog_version once: Wix Stores runs either catalog V3 (newer sites, and all sites eventually) or catalog V1, and each answers only its own API.

  • V3_CATALOG: wix_search_products, then wix_get_product for variants.
  • V1_CATALOG: wix_query_products_v1 and wix_get_product_v1.
  • STORES_NOT_INSTALLED: the site has no Wix Stores app.

Orders (wix_search_orders, wix_get_order) come from Wix eCommerce and cover both catalog versions, plus bookings and other Wix apps that sell through checkout.

Filters, sorting and paging

Query and search tools take a filter object in the Wix API query language: {"status": "APPROVED"}, {"createdDate": {"$gte": "2026-09-01T00:00:00Z"}}, {"$and": [{...}, {...}]}. Operators include $eq, $ne, $in, $gt, $gte, $lt, $lte, $startsWith, $hasSome, $hasAll and $exists; each tool lists the fields it can filter on, and a field outside that list answers Field '<name>' is not declared as filterable. Dates are ISO 8601 in UTC. Exception: wix_query_products_v1 takes filter and sort as JSON strings.

Paging is either by cursor or by offset:

  • Cursor (wix_search_products, wix_search_orders, wix_query_bookings, wix_query_blog_posts): set limit (max 100) on the first call, then pass pagingMetadata.cursors.next as cursor, without filter or sort.
  • Offset (wix_query_contacts up to 1,000 per page, wix_query_booking_services, wix_query_products_v1 up to 100): limit and offset.

These read tools use POST because Wix sends the query in the body; they change nothing.

Good to know

  • wix_search_orders leaves out orders in PENDING and REJECTED status unless the filter asks for them, and never returns INITIALIZED orders (fetch those by id with wix_get_order). Orders carry no payment method details.
  • wix_search_products with search_text also needs search_fields, for example ["name", "description"]. Hidden products and MERCHANT_DATA (cost and margin) need the admin product permission.
  • wix_query_products_v1 silently drops hidden and draft products unless include_hidden_products is true.
  • Bookings dates are UTC; always narrow wix_query_bookings with startDate for fast answers.
  • Contact labels must exist before they can be set on a contact.

Errors

  • 401: wrong key, or the site belongs to another Wix account than the key. No blog instanceId found (also a 401) means the Wix Blog app is not installed on the site.
  • 403: the key lacks the permission for this API or has no access to this site. Edit the key in the API Keys Manager.
  • 404: unknown id, or the Wix app (Stores, Bookings, Blog) is not installed on the site.
  • 429: too many requests. Wait a minute and retry.
