Bing Webmaster Tools

This connector uses the Bing Webmaster API (JSON endpoint https://ssl.bing.com/webmaster/api.svc/json/<Method>): sites, search performance (queries, pages, clicks, impressions, positions), crawl statistics and crawl issues, index details per URL, inbound links, sitemaps, keyword research and URL submission.

Setup

In Bing Webmaster Tools click Settings (top right), open API Access, accept the terms on first use, click API Key and then Generate API Key. Copy the key into BING_WEBMASTER_API_KEY. It is sent as the apikey query parameter on every call. There is one key per user, valid for all of that user's verified sites; deleting it and generating a new one breaks every integration using the old key. A site must be added and verified in Bing Webmaster Tools before its data is available (sites can be imported from Google Search Console there).

bing_webmaster_list_sites returns the site URLs. Every site tool needs site_url exactly as listed, including scheme and trailing slash (https://www.example.com/); a different spelling fails with an error that names the site as not found or not verified. Then bing_webmaster_get_rank_and_traffic_stats for the trend, bing_webmaster_get_query_stats and bing_webmaster_get_page_stats for the top queries and pages, bing_webmaster_get_crawl_issues for problems.

Answers

Answers are wrapped in {"d": ...}. Dates use the Microsoft JSON form /Date(1759276800000)/, milliseconds since 1970 UTC. Positions are averages (1 = top). Search performance covers roughly the last six months; query and page lists hold the top entries, not every query.

Paging

Link tools (bing_webmaster_get_link_counts, bing_webmaster_get_url_links) page with page starting at 0 and report TotalPages. The other tools return everything in one answer.

Errors

A missing or wrong key answers HTTP 400 with ErrorCode 3, InvalidApiKey. Other faults come back as ErrorCode with a message, for example for an unknown or unverified site.

Writes

bing_webmaster_submit_url and bing_webmaster_submit_url_batch (up to 500 URLs per call) ask Bing to crawl URLs and spend the daily submission quota; call bing_webmaster_get_url_submission_quota first. bing_webmaster_submit_sitemap registers a sitemap. Nothing is removed by this connector.
