Getting access

1. Create a DocuWare user for the integration with read rights on the file cabinets the agent should see. DocuWare enforces cabinet and field-level rights, so a restricted user sees fewer documents rather than an error.
2. Set DOCUWARE_URL to your platform root — for DocuWare Cloud that is https://<tenant>.docuware.cloud/DocuWare/Platform; on premises it is https://<server>/DocuWare/Platform. No trailing slash.
3. Set DOCUWARE_USERNAME and DOCUWARE_PASSWORD. The adapter posts them to /Account/Logon and reuses the returned .DWPLATFORMAUTH cookie, refreshing it when DocuWare expires it. AnythingMCP stores the session in the encrypted connector_auth_cache table.

Newer tenants may require the Identity Service instead. DocuWare has been migrating cloud tenants from cookie logon to OAuth 2.0 via its Identity Service. If /Account/Logon returns 404 or a redirect to an identity host, this adapter's auth path does not apply to your tenant and you will need a custom OAuth 2.0 connector pointed at the Identity Service's token endpoint.

Everything hangs off a file cabinet id. Call docuware_list_file_cabinets first; the Id it returns (a GUID) is the fileCabinetId every other tool needs. A DocuWare installation typically has several, and searching the wrong one returns a confident empty result.

Search is by index field, not full text by default. docuware_search_documents takes DocuWare's q expression over index fields, e.g. DOCUMENT_TYPE=Invoice. Full-text search only works if the cabinet has a full-text index configured.

Unverified. The paths and field names below follow the vendor's published documentation and have not been exercised against a live tenant — DocuWare does not offer a public sandbox. Treat a 404 as a docs-versus-reality gap and check the developer portal before concluding that the credential is wrong. If you run this against a real system, a correction to the adapter JSON is genuinely welcome.

Read-only by design: no upload, no index change, no delete. DocuWare cabinets are usually the company's audit-relevant archive.
