Getting a token
- Register at the Fortnox Developer Portal and create an integration. You receive a client id and client secret.
- Run the authorization-code flow once for the customer's Fortnox account, asking for the scopes you need —
invoice,customer,article,order,supplierinvoice,bookkeeping,settings. Keep the refresh token. - Set
FORTNOX_CLIENT_ID,FORTNOX_CLIENT_SECRETandFORTNOX_REFRESH_TOKEN. AnythingMCP refreshes the access token on its own.
The legacy Access-Token header is gone. Fortnox retired the old Access-Token + Client-Secret header pair; if you find an example using those, it is pre-2022 and will not work. OAuth 2.0 is the only path now.
Refresh tokens rotate. Fortnox issues a new refresh token on every refresh and invalidates the old one. AnythingMCP persists the rotated value back into the connector — but sharing one refresh token between this connector and another script will break one of them.
Rate limit is roughly 25 requests per 5 seconds per token, answered with 429. Pace bulk work.
Responses wrap the rows in the resource name: {"Customers": [...], "MetaInformation": {...}}. The paging totals live in MetaInformation (@TotalPages, @TotalResources).
financialyear matters for vouchers. Fortnox scopes bookkeeping to a financial year id; without one it uses the current year, which is a surprise in January.
Cloud reachability: api.fortnox.se is public with a valid certificate.
