signNow

This connector works with signNow (by airSlate) through its REST API at https://api.signnow.com: folders, documents and templates, fields, role-based and free form invites, signing links, document groups and document group templates, history and downloads. It acts as the signNow user who owns the API key.

Authentication: API key. signNow offers an API key (sent as Authorization: Bearer <key>, never expires), the password grant (account email, password and the app's Basic authorization token at /oauth2/token, only for the owner of the API app) and the OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow (for acting on behalf of other signNow users). signNow recommends the API key for server-to-server automation of one account, and it is the simplest and most robust here: no token renewal, no password stored. The connector therefore uses the API key.

Setup (3 minutes)

1. Sign in to signNow and open the API Dashboard (https://app.signnow.com/webapp/api-dashboard). A free developer account works for testing (https://www.signnow.com/developers).
2. Open Apps and Keys, select your application (or create one), and copy the key from the API Keys tab.
3. Paste it into SIGNNOW_API_KEY. Deleting the key in the dashboard revokes the connector's access.
4. Run signnow_get_user to check.

Workflow

• Account and folders: signnow_get_user, signnow_list_folders (root, Documents, Templates, Archive, Trash Bin and your folders), signnow_get_folder to list what a folder holds (filter signing-status pending, signed, waiting-for-others; entity_type template for templates).
• Read a document: signnow_get_document (roles, field_invites with status), signnow_get_document_fields (filled-in values), signnow_get_document_history, signnow_list_free_form_invites, signnow_get_routing_details (template roles).
• Files: signnow_download_document (the PDF), signnow_get_download_link (a temporary public link), signnow_download_document_group.
• Send from a template: signnow_create_document_from_template, optionally signnow_prefill_text_fields, then signnow_send_invite with one to entry per role (role names from signnow_get_document), or signnow_create_signing_link for a direct link.
• Send a new file: signnow_upload_document_from_url (text tags become fields with check_fields), add fields with signnow_update_document if needed, then signnow_send_invite; for a file without fields use signnow_send_free_form_invite. signnow_create_template turns a document into a template.
• Follow up: signnow_resend_field_invite (reminder to one signer), signnow_cancel_invite, signnow_cancel_free_form_invite, signnow_move_document, signnow_delete_document.
• Document groups: signnow_list_document_groups, signnow_get_document_group, signnow_get_document_group_recipients, signnow_create_document_group, signnow_list_template_groups, signnow_get_template_group, signnow_create_group_from_template, signnow_send_group_invite, signnow_get_group_invite, signnow_resend_group_invite, signnow_cancel_group_invite, signnow_delete_document_group.
• Folders: signnow_create_folder.

Sending is real: confirm first. Invites, reminders and group invites email real people and the signed documents are legally binding. Show the user the document, the signers with their roles and the message, and send only after a clear yes. from must be the email of the signNow account the key belongs to (see signnow_get_user). signnow_update_document with fields replaces every field of the document. Cancel and delete cannot be undone.

Reading the answers: ids are 40-character hex strings. created and updated are Unix timestamps in seconds (often as strings). A document is a template when template is true. Field invite status: created (waiting for an earlier signer), pending (out for signing), fulfilled (signed), and declined when a signer declines; free form invites: pending, fulfilled, cancelled. Roles (roles[].name, e.g. "Signer 1") are what invites refer to. Field coordinates are pixels from the top left of the page, pages start at 0.

Paging: signnow_get_folder takes limit (up to 100) and offset and returns total_documents; document groups and template groups take limit and offset; free form invites take page and per_page.

Errors: a wrong, deleted or missing API key answers 400 {"error": "invalid_token", "code": 1537} (signNow does not use 401 here). 403 when the key's user may not see the item; 404 Unable to find a route for an unknown or malformed id; 400 with an errors list for invalid input (unknown role, from not your account email, document without fields for a role-based invite). On 429 wait and retry. Accounts on the signNow EU server or older evaluation (api-eval.signnow.com) accounts use another API host: change the connector's base URL to it.

Switched off at install: signnow_delete_document and signnow_delete_document_group; they cannot be undone, so an admin switches them on when the team needs them.
