TimeTac + ChatGPT

TimeTac time and attendance for DACH teams: time trackings, users, projects, tasks, absences and the live clock-in state. REST API v3 on the customer's own timetac.com subdomain, OAuth 2.0.

Prerequisites

See the full setup instructions baked into the connector (visible in the in-app store when you select the connector). The required environment variables for this connector are:

TIMETAC_ACCOUNT, TIMETAC_CLIENT_ID, TIMETAC_CLIENT_SECRET, TIMETAC_REFRESH_TOKEN

Step 1 — Get credentials

Your account name is part of every URL. TimeTac gives each customer a subdomain and repeats the account name in the path: https://<account>.timetac.com/<account>/api/v3/. Set TIMETAC_ACCOUNT to that name (the part before .timetac.com) and the adapter builds both halves.

Getting OAuth credentials

  1. Ask TimeTac support to enable API access and issue an OAuth 2.0 client for your account — it is not self-service in the web UI.
  2. You receive a client id and client secret. Complete the authorization-code flow once against https://<account>.timetac.com/<account>/oauth2/authorize and keep the refresh token.

Step 2 — Install the adapter

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HelpCode-ai/anythingmcp/main/docker-compose.quickstart.yml -o docker-compose.yml
printf 'JWT_SECRET=%s\nENCRYPTION_KEY=%s\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d

Step 3 — Add the connector in ChatGPT

ChatGPT supports MCP servers via the Connectors feature (Plus / Pro / Team / Enterprise plans). The free tier does not support custom connectors.

  1. Open ChatGPT → Settings → Connectors (or click the 🔧 icon in the composer → Manage connectors).
  2. Click "Add custom connector".
  3. Fill in:
    • Name: TimeTac
    • MCP server URL: https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/mcp
    • Authentication: Bearer token → paste your MCP API key (from AnythingMCP → Profile → MCP API Keys → New Key)
  4. Click Connect to authorize.

Available tools

timetac_list_time_trackingsRead time trackings in a date range: start, end, duration, the user and the task booked against
timetac_list_projectsList projects with their client, budget and status, so a time tracking can be attributed to a piece of work
timetac_list_tasksList tasks — the things users actually clock onto — with the project they belong to and whether they are still open
timetac_list_absencesList absences (holiday, sick leave, special leave) with their type, date range and approval state, for the roster view
timetac_list_departmentsList the departments configured in the account, so users and reports can be grouped the way the org chart does
