Guides for eBay

Step-by-step setup for the most popular AI clients.

Setting up eBay Browse (product search)

From the connector definition itself: where to find the credentials, what they need to be allowed to do, and which API this adapter talks to.

Getting credentials

  1. Sign in at https://developer.ebay.com, open Application Keys and create a production keyset. Note the App ID (Client ID) and Cert ID (Client Secret).
  2. Set EBAY_CLIENT_ID, EBAY_CLIENT_SECRET and EBAY_MARKETPLACE_ID (the eBay site to search, e.g. EBAY_DE, EBAY_US, EBAY_GB).
  3. AnythingMCP gets an application token with eBay's client-credentials flow (scope https://api.ebay.com/oauth/api_scope) and renews it every two hours. No user sign-in is involved: the Browse API only reads public listings.

This connector is for searching and reading listings as a buyer. Selling (your orders, inventory, offers) is the separate eBay Sell connector, which needs a seller's user token.

Searching: ebay_browse_search_items needs at least one of q, category_ids, gtin or epid. Narrow with filter, e.g. price:[10..50],priceCurrency:EUR, conditions:{NEW}, buyingOptions:{FIXED_PRICE}, itemLocationCountry:DE; several filters are joined with commas. sort is price, -price, newlyListed or endingSoonest (best match when omitted).

Paging: limit up to 200 and offset; total is the number of matches, and offset + limit cannot exceed 10,000.

Ids: the search returns itemId (v1|123456789012|0) for ebay_browse_get_item, and legacyItemId (the number in the listing URL) for ebay_browse_get_item_by_legacy_id. A listing with variations (sizes, colours) has an itemGroupHref; ebay_browse_get_item_group returns all of its variations.

Prices are strings with a currency, in the marketplace's currency unless the seller lists in another. Availability and price change all the time: quote them with the time of the call.

Limits: an application keyset starts at 5,000 Browse calls a day.
