Guides for Everhour

Step-by-step setup for the most popular AI clients.

Setting up Everhour

From the connector definition itself: where to find the credentials, what they need to be allowed to do, and which API this adapter talks to.

Everhour

This connector calls the Everhour API (https://api.everhour.com) with the user's own API key: users, projects, tasks, clients, time records, timers, invoices, expenses, the resource planner and the projects and users reports. It can log time, change a time record and start or stop a timer; deleting a time record is installed switched off.

Writes need a yes. Before everhour_add_time, everhour_update_time_record, everhour_start_timer or everhour_stop_timer, tell the user what will be recorded (task, day, duration, comment) and wait for their confirmation. Time records feed invoices and payroll, so never guess a task or a duration.

Setup (about 1 minute)

  1. Sign in at https://app.everhour.com and open Settings, My Profile (https://app.everhour.com/#/account/profile).
  2. Copy the API Token at the bottom of the page into EVERHOUR_API_KEY. It is sent as the X-Api-Key header and only to api.everhour.com. The key acts as you: members see their own data, admins see the team.

Units: time is always in seconds (3600 = 1 hour) and money in cents (500 = 5.00). Dates are YYYY-MM-DD.

IDs: projects and tasks carry their platform prefix, ev: for Everhour itself and as: (Asana), tr: (Trello), jr: (Jira), gh: (GitHub) and so on for integrations. Users, clients, invoices and time records have plain numbers.

Workflow

  • Log time: find the task with everhour_search_tasks (or everhour_list_projects and everhour_list_project_tasks), confirm with the user, then everhour_add_time.
  • Timers: everhour_get_running_timer, everhour_start_timer, everhour_stop_timer; everhour_list_team_timers shows who is tracking now.
  • Review time: everhour_list_time_records (whole team), everhour_list_user_time_records, everhour_list_project_time_records; ids of people come from everhour_get_me and everhour_list_users.
  • Billing and planning: everhour_list_clients, everhour_get_project, everhour_get_task, everhour_list_invoices, everhour_get_invoice, everhour_list_expenses, everhour_list_schedule, everhour_projects_report, everhour_users_report.
  • Corrections: everhour_update_time_record; everhour_delete_time_record only if an admin has switched it on.

Rate limit: about 20 requests per 10 seconds per key. A 429 carries Retry-After in seconds; wait that long.

Common errors

  • 401 or 403 Access denied: the API key is wrong, was regenerated, or your role may not see this data (members see only their own time and projects).
  • 404: the id does not exist, or the platform prefix is missing (ev:123, not 123).
  • 422: a required field is missing or the record is locked or already invoiced.

Out of scope here: creating or changing projects, tasks, clients, invoices and expenses, timecards (clock in and out), timesheet approvals, time off allocations, custom fields and webhooks.
