Guides for Inoreader

Step-by-step setup for the most popular AI clients.

Setting up Inoreader

From the connector definition itself: where to find the credentials, what they need to be allowed to do, and which API this adapter talks to.

Inoreader

This connector uses the Inoreader API (https://www.inoreader.com/reader/api/0), a Google Reader style API: the user's feeds, folders and tags, unread counts, articles, and marking articles read or starred.

Setup

  1. The Inoreader account needs a paid plan: users on the Free plan get no API access.
  2. In your Inoreader preferences open the developer section and use the Create new application link. Set the OAuth redirect URI to <your AnythingMCP URL>/api/mcp-oauth/callback (on AnythingMCP Cloud: https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/api/mcp-oauth/callback) and the scope to read and write.
  3. Copy the App ID into INOREADER_APP_ID and the App Key into INOREADER_APP_KEY, install the connector, then click Authorize with Provider and sign in to Inoreader. The connector stores the refresh token and renews access tokens itself.

The access token is sent as Authorization: Bearer <token>; the App ID and key also travel as the AppId and AppKey headers, which Inoreader checks on every request.

Rate limits

Each app has two daily quotas: zone 1 (reads: user info, subscriptions, tags, unread counts, stream contents, item ids) and zone 2 (writes: edit-tag, mark-all-as-read). Default limits are low, around 100 requests a day per zone; you can ask for more in the app settings. Over the limit Inoreader answers 429 until the reset. Prefer inoreader_get_unread_counts and inoreader_list_item_ids to repeated full article reads, and use n up to 100 to fetch more per call.

Stream ids

user/-/state/com.google/reading-list (everything), user/-/state/com.google/starred, user/-/state/com.google/read, user/-/label/<folder or tag> and feed/<feed URL>. The - stands for the current user. To get unread articles only, pass xt = user/-/state/com.google/read.

Paging

Article answers carry a continuation string; pass it as c to get the next page, and stop when it is missing. ot limits to articles newer than a Unix timestamp.

Start here

inoreader_get_unread_counts or inoreader_list_tags for an overview, then inoreader_get_stream_contents on a folder with xt for unread articles. Mark them read with inoreader_edit_item_tags (add = user/-/state/com.google/read). inoreader_mark_all_as_read affects a whole stream; confirm with the user first. Subscribing and unsubscribing feeds is not offered.
