Getting access

1. Create a DocuWare user for the integration with read rights on the file cabinets the agent should see. DocuWare enforces cabinet and field-level rights, so a restricted user sees fewer documents rather than an error.
2. Set DOCUWARE_URL to your platform root — for DocuWare Cloud that is https://<tenant>.docuware.cloud/DocuWare/Platform; on premises it is https://<server>/DocuWare/Platform. No trailing slash.
3. Set DOCUWARE_USERNAME and DOCUWARE_PASSWORD.
4. Set DOCUWARE_TOKEN_URL to the token endpoint of your DocuWare Identity Service. To find it, open <DOCUWARE_URL>/Home/IdentityServiceInfo in a browser: it returns an IdentityServiceUrl. Append /connect/token to it (the exact value is the token_endpoint in <IdentityServiceUrl>/.well-known/openid-configuration).
   • DocuWare Cloud: https://login-emea.docuware.cloud/<organization-guid>/connect/token (the host can differ by region).
   • On premises: usually https://<server>/DocuWare/Identity/connect/token.

Authentication is OAuth 2.0 via the Identity Service. DocuWare retired the old cookie logon: /Account/Logon now answers 410 Gone with "Use Identity Service for authentication". The adapter requests an access token with the password grant (client_id=docuware.platform.net.client, scope=docuware.platform) and sends it as Authorization: Bearer …. Tokens live 60 minutes; the adapter renews them before they expire and again on a 401. AnythingMCP stores the token in the encrypted connector_auth_cache table. If your organisation has disabled the password grant, register an app under Configuration → Integrations → App registration and build a custom OAuth 2.0 connector instead.

Everything hangs off a file cabinet id. Call docuware_list_file_cabinets first; the Id it returns (a GUID) is the fileCabinetId every other tool needs. A DocuWare installation typically has several, and searching the wrong one returns a confident empty result.

Search is by index field, not full text by default. docuware_search_documents takes DocuWare's q expression over index fields, e.g. DOCUMENT_TYPE=Invoice. Full-text search only works if the cabinet has a full-text index configured. count is capped at 10,000 by DocuWare.

What has been checked. The resource paths and query parameters were checked against the URI templates a live DocuWare Platform publishes, and the token flow against a live Identity Service's OpenID configuration. The tools have not been run with real credentials, and the exact q quoting rules are not confirmed: if a search with quotes returns nothing, try the value without quotes.

Read-only by design: no upload, no index change, no delete. DocuWare cabinets are usually the company's audit-relevant archive.
