Facebook Pages

This connector works with one Facebook Page through the Pages API of Meta's Graph API (https://graph.facebook.com/v26.0), acting as the Page: Page details, posts (published, scheduled and unpublished), comments, Page and post insights, photo posts and Messenger conversations. Ads are not part of it.

Token. Meta lets only a Page access token act as the Page: a user token can read some data but cannot post, comment or message as the Page. The connector therefore takes a ready Page token in FACEBOOK_PAGE_ACCESS_TOKEN plus the Page id in FACEBOOK_PAGE_ID. Facebook Login issues no refresh tokens, and a Page token taken straight from the Graph API Explorer expires within hours, so use one that never expires:

1. Create an app at https://developers.facebook.com/apps/creation/ with the use case Manage everything on your Page and add the permissions pages_show_list, pages_read_engagement, pages_read_user_content, pages_manage_posts, pages_manage_engagement and read_insights. For Messenger also add the use case Engage with customers on Messenger from Meta, which brings pages_manage_metadata and pages_messaging. While you manage the Page yourself and have a role on the app, no App Review is needed.
2. In the Graph API Explorer (https://developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer/) pick the app, click Generate Access Token for your user with those permissions and select the Page when Facebook asks.
3. Paste that user token into the Access Token Debugger (https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/accesstoken/) and click Extend Access Token: you get a long-lived user token (about 60 days).
4. Back in the Explorer, with the long-lived user token, run GET me/accounts?fields=id,name,access_token. The access_token next to your Page is a long-lived Page token with no expiry date, and id is the Page id. The Debugger shows it as type Page, expires Never.

Alternative for a business portfolio: Business settings, Users, System users, add a system user, assign the Page to it, Generate token (expiry Never, same permissions), then run GET {page-id}?fields=access_token with that token in the Explorer and paste the returned Page token. A Page token stops working when the person who created it loses their role on the Page, changes their password or removes the app; generate a new one then.

Shortcut with automatic setup: set META_APP_ID and META_APP_SECRET (the app's App settings, Basic) and paste a user token from the Explorer (step 2, even short-lived) into FACEBOOK_PAGE_ACCESS_TOKEN. On the first call AnythingMCP exchanges it for a long-lived user token and takes the Page token of FACEBOOK_PAGE_ID from it (steps 3 and 4), which does not expire. If the Page token cannot be read (the user has no role on the Page), the long-lived user token is used and renewed before its 60 days run out.

When Meta ends a token for good (error 190: logged out, password changed, app removed), the connector answers at once with what to do instead of retrying; paste a new token to continue.

Start with facebook_pages_get_page to check the setup. Tools that act on the Page take its id from the connector, so you never pass it.

Ids. Post ids look like {page-id}_{post-id} and come from facebook_pages_list_posts, facebook_pages_list_feed or facebook_pages_list_scheduled_posts; a photo post returns both a photo id and its post_id, use the post_id. Comment ids come from facebook_pages_list_comments; conversation ids start with t_ and come from facebook_pages_list_conversations. Pass ids unchanged.

Fields and paging. The Graph API returns only the fields you ask for. Read tools have a fields parameter with a useful default; nested fields go in braces, counts as comments.limit(0).summary(true). List answers carry paging.cursors.after; call again with after set to it until paging.next is missing. limit is at most 100 for posts.

Posts. facebook_pages_list_posts reads the Page's own posts; facebook_pages_list_feed reads everything on the Page, including posts by visitors and unpublished posts (is_published false); facebook_pages_list_scheduled_posts reads posts waiting to go live. facebook_pages_create_post publishes text or a link at once, facebook_pages_schedule_post sets a time between 10 minutes and 30 days ahead (Meta's reference allows up to 75 days), facebook_pages_create_photo_post posts an image from a public URL (JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP or TIFF, at most 10 MB). facebook_pages_update_post edits the text of a post or publishes or reschedules a scheduled one; Meta only lets an app edit posts that were created through the same app.

Comments. facebook_pages_list_comments reads the comments on a post, or the replies to a comment when you pass a comment id. facebook_pages_comment_on_post and facebook_pages_reply_to_comment answer as the Page, facebook_pages_hide_comment hides or shows a comment (a hidden comment stays visible to its author and their friends), facebook_pages_send_private_reply sends one Messenger message to the author of a comment (within 7 days of the comment).

Insights (needs read_insights and at least 100 Page likes; data refreshes about once a day and goes back 2 years; a range covers at most 90 days). Meta removed many metrics in November 2025 and June 2026, and one invalid name fails the whole call, so use these names:

• Page, facebook_pages_get_page_insights with period day, week or days_28: page_media_view (how often content was displayed; breakdown is_from_ads or is_from_followers), page_total_media_view_unique (unique viewers), page_post_engagements, page_total_actions (clicks on contact info and the action button), page_views_total, page_video_views, page_video_view_time, page_daily_follows_unique, page_daily_unfollows_unique; with period day only: page_follows (followers), page_actions_post_reactions_total.
• Post, facebook_pages_get_post_insights (lifetime): post_media_view (same breakdowns), post_total_media_view_unique, post_clicks, post_clicks_by_type, post_reactions_by_type_total, post_activity_by_action_type; for video posts post_video_views, post_video_avg_time_watched, post_video_view_time.
• Gone, do not use: page_impressions and its variants, page_fans, page_fan_adds, page_fan_removes, page_engaged_users, page_consumptions, every page_posts_impressions*, every post_impressions*, page_video_views_unique, post_video_views_unique.

Messenger (needs pages_messaging and pages_manage_metadata). Meta only allows a Page to message a person who wrote first. A reply (messaging_type RESPONSE) is allowed within 24 hours of the person's last message; after that only messaging_type MESSAGE_TAG with tag HUMAN_AGENT (a person answering by hand, within 7 days, needs the Human Agent permission from App Review). The other message tags were retired in April 2026. Error 1545041 or code 10 on a send means the window is closed. Without App Review, Meta limits an app to people who have a role on it; to message customers, request Advanced Access for pages_messaging. Only the 20 most recent messages of a conversation can be read in full.

Confirmation. Publishing, scheduling, editing, commenting, replying and messaging are visible to the public or to a customer at once: state exactly what will be posted or sent and wait for the user's yes. Deleting posts and comments installs switched off; turn those tools on in the connector if you need them.

Errors. Graph answers with an error object: code 190 means the token expired or was revoked (create a new Page token as above); 10, 200 or 283 mean a missing permission, and code 3 or a message such as "must be posted to a page as the page itself" means a user token was pasted instead of the Page token; 100 is an invalid parameter or metric name; 2500 is a malformed request; 368 means Meta has temporarily blocked the Page or app from this action as abusive (wait, and post less); 4, 17, 32, 613, 80001 and 80006 are rate limits (wait a few minutes); 551 means the person cannot be reached in Messenger.
