freee

This connector uses the freee API (https://api.freee.co.jp): freee会計 (freee Accounting) at /api/1 for companies, deals (取引), partners (取引先), account items (勘定科目), tax codes, items, sections, memo tags, bank and card accounts with their statement lines, transfers, manual journals (振替伝票), the journal book, trial balances and the general ledger, and the file box; and freee請求書 (freee Invoice) at /iv for invoices and quotations. Since the invoice system change in October 2023 invoices and quotations are created in freee請求書; the old /api/1/invoices endpoints are not used here.

Setup (about 10 minutes)

1. Sign in at https://app.secure.freee.co.jp/developers/applications (freee アプリストア, 開発者向け) and click 新規追加 (create an app). A private app (非公開アプリ) is enough for your own companies.
2. On the tab 基本設定, add the callback URL https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/api/mcp-oauth/callback on AnythingMCP Cloud, or <your AnythingMCP server URL>/api/mcp-oauth/callback when you host AnythingMCP yourself.
3. Under 権限設定 (permissions) tick read and, for the write tools, write for: 会計 (取引, 取引先, 勘定科目, 品目, 部門, メモタグ, 税区分, 口座, 口座明細, 振替伝票, 仕訳帳, 試算表, ファイルボックス, 事業所, ユーザー) and 請求書 (請求書, 見積書). Permissions are set on the app, not as OAuth scopes. Save (保存).
4. Copy the Client ID into FREEE_CLIENT_ID and the Client Secret into FREEE_CLIENT_SECRET, leave FREEE_REFRESH_TOKEN empty and install.
5. Click Authorize with Provider and sign in to freee with a user who may see the companies you need; freee asks you to pick a company (事業所選択) and shows the app permissions. Run freee_get_me to check.

Tokens: an access token lasts 6 hours and is renewed with the refresh token. freee issues a new refresh token at every renewal and the old one stops working; a refresh token unused for 90 days expires, then authorize again. What the AI may do also depends on the role of the freee user in each company.

Company (company_id): every tool except freee_get_me and freee_list_companies needs the company id. Take it from freee_get_me (companies of the user) or freee_list_companies; freee_get_company shows the fiscal years.

Workflow

• Look up ids first: freee_list_account_items / freee_get_account_item, freee_list_taxes (tax codes for lines), freee_list_partners / freee_get_partner, freee_list_items, freee_list_sections, freee_list_tags, freee_list_walletables, freee_list_users.
• Income and expenses: freee_list_deals and freee_get_deal; freee_create_deal registers one (with payments to settle it right away), freee_create_deal_payment adds a payment later, freee_update_deal replaces its lines (keep line ids).
• Masters: freee_create_partner, freee_update_partner, freee_create_item, freee_create_section, freee_create_tag.
• Bank and cards: freee_list_wallet_txns and freee_get_wallet_txn for statement lines, freee_list_transfers for transfers between own accounts.
• Journals: freee_list_manual_journals, freee_get_manual_journal, freee_create_manual_journal. The full journal book is asynchronous: freee_request_journals, then freee_get_journals_status until uploaded, then freee_download_journals.
• Reports: freee_get_trial_balance (trial_bs, trial_pl, trial_cr and the year comparisons), freee_get_trial_pl_sections (P/L by section), freee_list_general_ledgers (general ledger, beta).
• Evidence: freee_list_receipts and freee_get_receipt for the file box.
• freee請求書: freee_list_invoices, freee_get_invoice, freee_list_invoice_templates, freee_create_invoice, freee_cancel_invoice and freee_uncancel_invoice; freee_list_quotations, freee_get_quotation, freee_create_quotation. Documents are created unsent; sending happens in freee. Show the lines and total and wait for the user's yes before creating one.

Reading answers: amounts are integers in JPY (tax included unless the field says otherwise); dates are yyyy-mm-dd in JST. Lists return meta.total_count on deals and journals; page with offset and limit (deals and wallet lines up to 100, manual journals 500, partners, items and tags 3000). fiscal_year in reports is the year the fiscal period starts.

Limits and errors: freee answers status_code and errors with messages, mostly in Japanese; the validation message names the field. 401 means the token expired or was revoked (authorize again), 403 that the user or the app permissions do not allow the call, or, briefly, too many requests (wait about 10 minutes). Reports allow 10 calls per second and return 429 above.

Switched off at install: freee_delete_deal and freee_delete_manual_journal; they cannot be undone, so an admin switches them on when the team needs them.
