Twitch
This connector works with Twitch through the Twitch Helix API (https://api.twitch.tv/helix), signed in as one Twitch user: users and channels, live streams, videos, clips, categories (games), channel and category search, follower counts, stream schedules and chat settings. It can create clips and change your own channel's title, category and tags. It signs in with OAuth 2.0 (authorization code) through a Twitch application of your own; every call carries the app's Client ID in the Client-Id header, which the connector adds for you.
Setup (about 5 minutes, free)
- Turn on two-factor authentication on your Twitch account (Settings â Security and Privacy); Twitch requires it to register applications.
- Open https://dev.twitch.tv/console/apps, click Register Your Application: any name, OAuth Redirect URLs
https://cloud.anythingmcp.com/api/mcp-oauth/callbackon AnythingMCP Cloud, or<your AnythingMCP URL>/api/mcp-oauth/callbackwhen you host AnythingMCP yourself (Twitch accepts HTTPS URLs, orhttp://localhostfor local tests), a category such as Other, and Client Type: Confidential. Click Create. - Click Manage on the new application: copy the Client ID into
TWITCH_CLIENT_ID, click New Secret and copy it intoTWITCH_CLIENT_SECRET. - Install the connector, click Authorize with Provider, sign in to Twitch and click Authorize.
Scopes requested: moderator:read:followers (follower lists of your own or moderated channels), clips:edit (twitch_create_clip), channel:manage:broadcast (twitch_update_channel). For twitch_send_chat_announcement, which is installed switched off, add moderator:manage:announcements in the connector's OAuth settings and authorize again. Everything else is public data and needs no scope.
Ids, not names: most tools take numeric user ids (broadcaster_id, user_id), not login names. Get them with twitch_get_users (by login, or without arguments for yourself) or twitch_search_channels. Category (game) ids come from twitch_search_categories or twitch_get_games. Tools that accept lists send them as repeated parameters (id=1&id=2), at most 100.
Confirm before every change. twitch_create_clip and twitch_update_channel act on Twitch at once and are visible to viewers: say what will happen and wait for the user's yes. twitch_update_channel works only on the signed-in user's own channel. Clips need a channel that is live; creation is asynchronous, so check with twitch_get_clips (by id) after a few seconds.
Followers: twitch_get_channel_followers returns total for any channel. The follower list itself is only returned for your own channel or one you moderate; for others data is empty.
Tools: twitch_get_users, twitch_get_channel_info, twitch_get_streams, twitch_get_videos, twitch_get_clips, twitch_get_games, twitch_get_top_games, twitch_search_channels, twitch_search_categories, twitch_get_channel_followers, twitch_get_schedule, twitch_get_chat_settings (read); twitch_create_clip, twitch_update_channel (changes, confirm first); twitch_send_chat_announcement (switched off).
Paging: list tools return next_cursor; pass it as after (with the same filters) to get the next page. It is missing on the last page. Clip lists stop after about 1,000 results; narrow the date range instead.
Sign-in lifetime: user access tokens last a few hours and are renewed automatically. The refresh token of a confidential app keeps working until the user disconnects the app (Settings â Connections) or changes the Twitch password; then click Authorize with Provider again.
Rate limit: about 800 points per minute per user and app; each call costs one point. Over the limit Twitch answers 429; wait until the minute resets.
Errors
- 401 "Invalid OAuth token" or "Client ID and OAuth token do not match": authorize again; if you renewed the secret or use a different app, update
TWITCH_CLIENT_ID/TWITCH_CLIENT_SECRETfirst. - 401 "Missing scope": add the scope named in the message and authorize again.
- 400: a parameter is wrong, e.g. more than one of id / user_id / game_id, or a title Twitch's AutoMod refused.
- 404 on
twitch_get_schedule: the broadcaster has no schedule; ontwitch_create_clip: the channel is not live.
Out of scope: chat messages, whispers, moderation (bans, timeouts), subscriptions and bits revenue, polls and predictions, channel points, raids, EventSub webhooks, stream keys, and deleting videos.
